Part one investigated the fault and its history, while part two concerned actual damage likely in a 7.5 quake. The Earthquake potential along the Wasatch Front has been described as being among the worst in the Western Hemisphere. However, residents along the Wasatch Front would gain nothing from constant worry or panic over the potential hazards. When and if a big quake comes is unknown. Still, immediate steps can be taken to prepare for a quake. There are many natural disasters other than ear- thquakes ranging from floods to windstorms to droughts. But when people prepare adequately for a quake, they have prepared for almost any natural disaster possible since quakes are among the worst disasters. Its a good idea to prepare for the 7.5 quake predicted to strike along the Wasatch Fault within the next century even if it never comes. Preparation Much can be done to lessen quake dangers before a quake might come. These steps include: 1) Store some food and medical supplies in a safe place. Many LDS people all ready do this, but some fail to secure it or strap it down. If not, the food might sway and topple off shelves in a quake and be destroyed. 2) Have periodic fire and helpful to reduce injuries and panics if a quake comes. It would pay for each home to have its own disaster plan of action. 3) Parents should know the policy of the schools their children attend. The policy of whether or not schools will keep children at school until parents come for them or if they will send them straight home can vary. 4) If parents always know where their children are, this can reduce panic and unnecessary action during a quake. 5) Knowing how to turn off the gas in a house and having a wrench to do so nearby could prevent a fire or explosion after a quake. Heavy objects 6) Take heavy objects down from high shelves and places is another good preventative measure. 7) Do everything possible to reduce fire danger in your house and surroundings. 8) Keep your automobile in good operating condition with an ample supply of gasoline in case you must evacuate your home because of dam failure. 9) Support the passing of 2) Remain where you are. Do not run. If indoors, stay indoors. Hide under sturdy State Campus, they are falling walls or electric danger. 9) Check utilities. Turn off wires. 4) If in a high rise building, get under a desk. Also you can sit or stand against an inside wall (preferably in the basement) or under an inside doorway. 3) If indoors, watch for falling plaster, light fixtures and other objects. Watch out for china, high cabinets or other objects that might topple. Stay away, from windows mirrors and chimneys. Encourage others to follow your example. Usually it is best not to run outside since most injuries in quakes occur as people enter or leave buildings due to . primary control to tricity.
