Show f Ben Lomond Beacon, Feb. 9, 1978, Page 7 9 ft Circus fhema finds scouts in costumes Cub Pack 412, North Ogden llth Ward, met last week with a Circus theme. Boys dressed as animals, clowns or various other circus people, performed stunts and tricks for their families. They looked so cute in their homemade costumes, they were invited to repeat their acts at the District Round Table, held later in the week. Built in 1968 North Ogden High has been number one for ten years. Number one in sports events, scholastic kinds of DIANE SOELBERG Honor Band. has been named to the Local coed chosen for honor band Diane Soelberg has been chosen the first alternate for the National High School Honor Band. Miss Soelberg is the daughter of William L. Soelberg and Charlene Budge Soelberg of 375 W. Elberta Drive in Pleasant View. The band is composed of high school students all over the United States. The band will join in Chicago on April 11, 1978 and will rehearse each day until April 15, when they will play for the music educators National Conference. The band will be directed by Dr. Wiallm Revelli. Miss Soelberg is treasurer of the National Honor Society, in the- - A achievements, all district fairs and festivals, but most of all North Ogden Jr. High has been and still is number one in spirit and pride. Already North Ogden Jr. is looking forward to another great year during 78 & 79. Sixth graders from Lomand View, Green Acres, North Ogden and Bates elementary schools are planning their classes and schedules for next year. Ninth graders are also in the act of getting ready for next year. All of the ninth grade have chosen their classes for when they are sophomores at Weber High. Seventh and eighth graders have picked their classes for when they are eighth and ninth graders next Sep- tember. The North Ogden Knights have played four basketball games so far, having won two and losing two. Kelly Johnson, the teams center won the one on one competition on the school, city and state level. North Ogden Jr. High is very proud to have Kelly at school. North Ogden is participating in two new events Cappella Choir, Chamber Choir, symphonic band, pep band, stage band and LDS seminary. She enjoys singing, playing the oboe and saxophone, speaking German and traveling. She plans to attend Weber State College. the direction of Den Leaders Sandy Ottesen, Judy Pont Den this year. There is going to be an Economics Fair at the Weber State College ballroom on Feb. 14 and 15. The fair is sponsored anonymously by a man in the Ogden area. At the Economics Fair this mystery donator will be revealed. This is the first time anything like this has been done in the United Statres, and the Weber schools will be participating. The PTA is working on a Reflections Project to county encourage creative under ceremony, and Barbara Campbell. Russel Rose was promoted to Den three. Cubby was awarded to North Ogden Junior boasts winning record Jr. New Cub Scouts, David Greenhall and Mike Blair, w ere welcomed into the pack with a special induction ex- pression among youth in the form of visual arts, literature and music. They are having a contest to do this. To enter the contest the student must express the theme Love is.... through art, literature, or music. The deadline will be Feb. 17. Winners will receive an award on a local, state and even a national level. North Ogden will be participating again in the regional science fair at Weber College. In past years students from North Ogden have taken the most awards The school science fair will be on Feb. 27 and 28 and after school between 4 and 6pm The public is invited to attend. The best projects from the school science fair will go to the Regional Science Fair. 1 for outstanding attendance of the families at the Pack meeting. Valentino Dance set at Weber The Pleasant View Weber High Warriors will be dancing to the theme Belongings this Saturday night at the annual Valentines Dance. The dance is sponsered by the Club and Pep Cheerleaders and is girls choice. Best dress is required. Tickets are $3 per couple. The dance is from 8:30 to 11 p m. and the band is Stillwater. Miss Pep Club and Mr. Athlete will be announced at the dance. Candidates for Mr. Athlete are Steve Trawick, Kevin Fielding, Blair Butler, Russ Campbell, Dale Stone and Jay Shupe.
