It was a beautiful, porgeous day...just perfect a clean-uWhat could have been a fun, rewarding became a morning, p. frustrating, over-whelmi- experience. Twenty people, not twenty families, turned out to spruce up Shady Lane Park. What a disappointment!! DONT TELL ME YOU DIDNT KNOW ABOUT IT! I personally told over 200 of you at our PTA meeting just last Thursday night. Mayor Barker delivered 1500 leters in Pleasant View... urging you to help clean up the Park. A front page article of the Ben Lomond Beacoon (which every citizen in Pleasant View was given, complimentary) asked for your support. Does someone have to get on their knees to beg for your help?? W'here were the City fathers of previous years (who remember what an effort it is to get volunteers)? Where were the Cub Scouts (only Pack 415 was helping)? Where were the Scouts (only Troop 415 was represented)? Where were the leaders?? Where was the Posse? Where were the Soccer teams who use the Park every day? Scout and Cub Scout Leaders need to remember that they are involved in a growing, thriving com- munity which needs their help. Many boys need service projects for their Scout advancements, and when the community provides these projects, we as Scout Leaders are failing in our responsibilities if we do not get them involved. This community is ours and we can only keep it a nice place if we care enough -- to put forth a little effort to help once in a while. The young people in our area need to be taught to care and help and respect our community. We as leaders need to set the example and HELP. Get BUSY. Dont miss the opportunity next time and do your part and care. Ida Barker WEBELO LEADER Pack 415 3611 N. SOW. Pleasant View P.S. I urge you to call Helen Packer, City Councilwoman in charge of parks, before NEXT TIME. She would be happy to give you a service project. op- to commend Mayor Peary Barker and the city councilmen of Pleasant View for taking our citys dog problem to task. Im Pleasant P.S. I LOVE PLEASANT this unpleasant task of removing from my property. I really do not dislike dogs. I was raised on a ranch, and we always had dogs, but they were not allowed to stray. I would like to mention a family in Pleasant View, the Bill Grosvenor family, who has three dogs. My reason for mentioning this family is that they like their dogs, but they take good care of them. They keep them locked up, so they do not disturb their neighbors. When the dogs are let out to romp and play, Bill and or his wife are right there to supervise them, and do not let them infringe on neighbors. Im sure some people will be hurt, and probably their dogs even though they rove, do not cause damage to other property. But all dogs as well as cats should be controlled. People should handle this problem as just plain good neighbors, and not have to be forced by laws, but alas, they portunity alone. SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP. I hope Helen gives you another chance, citizens of Pleasant View..I hope next time well SEE YOU AT THE PARK!!! A CITY IS ONLY AS GREAT AS YOU MAKE IT... lawyers, Saturday, April 19th, our Cub Scout Pack 415 took an Dear Sir, May I take ' sure the task wont be pleasant, but I want them to know I stand firm in support of the decision made. Since moving to Pleasant View five years ago, Ive considered the roving dogs a problem, and with bigger a dogs, potentially dangerous problem in regard to small children. In the past, on many occasions after having to recoup my trash in the mornings of trash pickup day, I have felt very strong feelings of anger against people who would allow their roaming animals to do this or cause this problem to a neighbor but yet never dream it was their fault. Yet if I had personally knocked their own garbage cans over, spilling the trash, Im sure I would have been sued or at the least arrested. Not to mention the amount of dog soil I have had the The annual North Ogden city spring cleanup will get underway Monday and continue until next Friday, city officials announced today. The city will begin to pick up trash on the west side of North Ogden Monday morning and move through the city as fast as possible. Because the schedule for pickup on each street is not fixed, the city says residents should be sure to have their trash out Monday morning for collection. Crews will not double back, City Manager Dennis Shupe noted. All material placed out for collection must be in boxes or containers. Bush clippings and small tree limbs must be tied in bundles and can be no longer than five feet in length. The weight limit on containers and bundles will be 75 pounds. The city is asking residents to place all discarded material on the parkways, not in gutters or waterways. If people have any big items, like old refrigerators or washing machines, they should call the city office and make an appointment for pickup, City Recorder Cleo Christensen said. The city will not haul away such material as rocks, cement, or dirt, she said. ED OPIN wont. Sincerely, Noel Critchfield Pleasant View Congratulations to few who showed up Dear Sir: I would account current. I am still in arrears. I am glad I will have another chance to pay back what I owe. I find it very hard to believe that myself, and a handful of citizens who were present to like congratulate the 15 to 20 people who showed up Saturday at the Shady Lane Rark in Pleasant View to participate in the announced city cleanup. These fine citizens must feel, as I do, that a little rent is owed to the City. I feel my rent debt goes back many years for .all the times I used the Citys parks as I was growing up. Now, Saturday, and the only people in Pleasant View who feel they owe for the use of the parks and other facilities. Loans alone cannot pay for all the upkeep involved. It takes citizen help and participation and it takes more than 20 citizens.
