As members of the local business community we support the proposed development at Mount Holly and respectfully urge the pfenning commission's approval of the project. We recognize this project has not been without controversy. While we respect the opinions of all, it is our opinion that the benefits of the project far outweigh the regative impacts. Since the development at Mount Holiy was initially done more than 30 years ago, our retail community has seen dramatic ups and downs depending on the fortunes of the current owner of Mount HollyEik Meadows. Every time a new owner has purchased the property and attempted to maintain it as a public resort the result has been failure. Given the numerous unsuccessful attempts to make the resort a steady, viable, ongoing concern as a public resort, we believe a fresh new idea is in order. As such we feel the proposal for a private resort is prudent. In addition to more dollars in our local economy, we see the proposed development adding badly needed tax revenues to our county. As you well know, our school children attend classes with a studentteacher ratio higher than ideal. The District has a difficult time finding financial resources to employ adequate numbers of teachers. Further, the Belknap School is in bad need of complete replacement yet we lack the bonding capacity to do so. The Mount Holly Club project would be a giant step toward resolving these issues by providing badly needed tax revenue. For past decades the chief export from our local economy has been that of talented young people. We believe jt is time to curb that export statistic and take steps toward the creation of a local economy with enough opportunity for our children, our children's children and beyond. This project is a step in the right direction to build that healthy local economy. Thanks for your consideration in this matter. Residents This letter is to give you more information that hopefully will help when considering the future of our mountains. There might be good things that come from a Mt. There was a national news story on the Yellowstone Club a few months ago. . Check out their website at http:www.theyeIlow-stoneclub.coOne of the of the. residents, impacts Bozeman did not anticipate was the rise in their own property taxes.
