Friday evening they were called to fight a fire at the Pete Smith residence. The sheds at the rear of the home had caught fire and by the time the department arrived were totally involved. With the theater being open to the southwest and the prevailing winds, the question has been asked if the walls could only be 10 ft high instead of the 12 feet. County Commissioners Meeting The Board of County Commissioners met on August 5, 1976 at 10:00 a.m. for their regular monthly meeting. Those present were as follows: Fred B. Harris, Chairman; Thurman F. Eyre and S.C. Roberts, members, and N. R. Dotson, Clerk. Minutes of the July 1, 1976 meeting were read and approved. A Planning Commission Meet-- . ;ng will be held on August 30, 1976 at 8:00 p.m. to discuss the progress of the subdivision ordinances with John C. Willie. Robert Christiansen met with the board and said that something needs to be done with the county roads in the Milford Flat area around his farm. He said that they are so rough that they are shaking his equipment apart and he has asked the road foreman to grade the road, it is never done. Robert suggested that a mil) levy be set throughout the county to improve the roads and oil more of them. The Board will take the matter under consideration. Mr. Christiansen also reported that several people had complained to him abput C.E. Hutchinson being hired as Jailer in the Public Safety Department and that they were opposed to any increase in the Public Safety Department budget for the coming year. Wayne Crook met with the Board and thanked them for sponsoring him at the University of Utah School on Alcohol and Drugs. He said that the classes and information he received were very good and should be very useful. David L. Robbins also thanked the Board by letter for sending him to the same school. Gair Lee met with the Board and discussed the assessment from Color Country Advertising for the fiscal year 1976-7The assessment is $2,600.00 and amounts to 34 of the Transient Room Tax. It was moved by Comm. Eyre, seconded by Comm. Roberts and passed that 12.200 be paid to Color Country Advertising as Beaver Counties assessment. Tom Dover and Conrad Grim-shamet with the Board and purposes of selecting groups to discussed the new fire protection host meeting and select speakers districts. They asked the county for the following year. to impose a 2 or 3 mill levy rate this year, county wide, as the new w districts would not be operational until next year. They discussed the matter and agreed to raise the General Fund mill levy 2.0 mills if the South Milford Fire District would drop the 2 mills they have imposed. The 2 mills would raise and $26,000.00 approximately will be distributed as before with the South Milford Fire District receiving the same amount of money as if they had imposed the 2 mills. It was moved by Comm. Roberts, seconded by Comm. Eyre and passed that a bill .for $60.00 be paid to Ned Ruesch for backhoe work done around Jhe Edward Dicks Home to control flooding. Mr. Dicks agreed to give the county an easement to drain water on his property east of his home, if a culvert was moved to that area to take care of the water. It was moved by Comm. Eyre, seconded by Comm. Roberts and passed that $1,800.00 be committed to the Southern Utah Counties Defenders Office for renewal 'of the Contract for Indigent Defence Counsel. :.' It was moved by Comm. Roberts, seconded by Comm. Eyre and passed that the following Election Judges for the Primary and General Elections be appointed. Beaverl, Clara W. Carter, Geniel Roberts.
