Show ELECT OFFICERS OFS POST OF VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS Leaders of Newly Chartered Group to be Installed by Salt Lake Men Following close on the election of officers of the local American Legion, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars met Wednesday evening at the Odd Fellows hall and elected officers for their organization. The Milford vets received their charter about January 28th, and the local post is known as Milford Post, Number 154G, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The meeting was called to order at S:30 and balloting for the selection of leaders for the new organization was begun. The following men were elected: G. T. Fitzgerald, Post Comrnander; George J. Krienke, Senior Vice-Commander; Louis McFadden, Junior I Vice-Commander; J. F. Farmer, Adjutant; Ad-jutant; Earl H. Gleason, Quartermaster; Quarter-master; Jos. H. Hanlon, Chaplain; William R. McSpadden, Officer of the Day. It was decided at the meeting to have officers from Lt. Clarence E. Allen post, Number 409, at Salt Lake City, to institute the post and to install in-stall the officers, on Saturday, March 24. At present, there are twenty charter char-ter members in the post, but this number may be increased before the post begins to function. Most of these men are from Milford, although there are some from Caliente and Salt Lake who have joined here due to the fact that Milford is the logical center for a post in this corner of the state and because their work keeps them in and out if Milford a greater share of the time. The complete com-plete list of charter members of Milford Mil-ford post is as follows: Jaye Jeffers, G. T. Fitzgerald, W. C. Herron, Guy H. Hill, George J. Krienke, Wm. R. McSpadden, Jr., C. A. Langdorf, Woodford Pigg, Louis McFadden, Harvey K. LeSuer, Albert Joest, Jr., Harold P. Ryan, Walter Vincent, Jos. P. Reynolds, J. F. Farmer, M. P. Lewis, Walter C. Barnes, Henry H. Miller, J. H. Hanlon, and Earl H. Gleason The first three men in the list are Spanish-American war vets, while Fitzgerald is also a World war vet in addition. There are but four posts of Veterans Veter-ans of Foreign Wars in the State of Utah, the other three being located at Salt Lake City, Ogden, and at Logan. The organization of the 4th post at Milford puts this town up with the larger cities of the state and indicates that the local ex-soldiers are up on their toes. The Milford Mil-ford post, being just newly chartered, have had little time as yet to plan a program of activities, but will put on a number of social events and sponsor spon-sor other activities after they once get going. |
