In Sacrament meeting Sunday we had the high counselors talk. First there was a talk given by Shelly Puffer then the Seminary teacher from Beaver spoke. The Minersville choir sang a number directed by Larry Bailey. The concluding speaker was Rondo Farrer. Garn and Jay Eyre from Middle-to- n visited with Mildred Martin and Delmar and Ileen Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall and family, Mr. and Mrs.KentMarshall and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Marshall and family, and Grandma Hilda Marshall went to Fillmore to a missionary farewell program for Joe Brinkerhoff who is going on an LDS mission. Bonco Club was held at Robin McMullins last Tuesday. Prizes were won and a lovely ham luncheon was served. The Literary Club held their annual fall party at the church picnic ground. Verna Thompson is on a little trip to Salt Lake and is going to go to Idaho. Newell and Theo Marshall spent a few days in Delta with the Garrett family. They all went to Genola to pick up peaches for the family. ns Weekend visitors at the home of Clyde and Ila Murdock were Becky and Dennis Merrill and four children of Salt Lake City, Utah. Recent visitors at the Murdocks included Chuck and Ila Marie Cummings and three children of Salem; Jim and Sally Shipley and family of Michigan; Bonnie Prestwich and daughter of Cedar City; Sherrie Maine and two daughters, Sherrie Ann and Gaberial of Salt Lake City. Now that school has begun, Greenville is much quieter than in the sximmer time. The following people have returned to California for the winter: Chuck and Joyce Newberry and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Treat -erland and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Chesley; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chesley and family. Arthur Blackner has been with his daughter in Milford, Mrs. Laree Stewart, and Mrs.Maurine Yardley. Arthur was taken to Salt Lake recently by his daughters where he had eye surgery. King and Donna Morris left on Friday for California to visit Donnas sister Marie and family. They all plan to attend the Pomona Fair. They will be gone a week. Last week King Morris took his mother-in-laEsta Warren, to Ogden to visit her sister for a week. Tammie and Vincent Kite and son Wade, and Don and Ronda Weldert and three sons had an enjoyable day Saturday. They spent the day in the hills having a picnic and each getting a load of wood. w, In' August I had the pleasure of accompanying Wilna Swain, Postmaster at Milford, to Las Vegas, Nevada to the National Convention for the National League of Postmasters. We spent a week there and had many Interesting experiences. We listened to the Postmaster General and many other outstanding speakers. The entertainment was well planned. There were eighteen hundred postmasters from all over the United States. Recent visitors at the home of Brent nd Sandy Edwards were Chad and Jeanie Briggs and two children of Salt Lake City. Bill Cunningham is in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake for He expects to be home tests. soon. Robert Orton, who has been living here for a couple of months, moved to Hinckley last week. He will manage a clothing store in Delta. Last week I accompanied DeVona Griffiths, Ela Easton and Macel Horton to St. George. We stayed I had at the Temple Apartments. to attend Postmaster training and the others attended sessions at the LDS Temple. In the evening I also attended sessions at the temple. Kelvin and Cynthia Bodily and family recently drove to Idaho to visit Cindys mother. They also visited Kelvins parents in Brigham City. His parents came back with them for a few days. Somebody scoffed: "Oh, youll never do that So Milford High School has a new teacher, Miss Bryanne Wyatt. She was born in Afton, Wyoming and then moved to Logan where she has lived ever since. Miss Wyatt comes from a large family of six, two brothers and three sisters. During her teenage years she went to Skyview High School and attended college at Utah State University, majoring in English. Reading, knitting, sewing, watching T.V. , Literature and the arts are her main interests. This is her first year of teaching, and she is looking forward to it, because she has wanted to teach since she was ten. The first pep assembly of the year was held last Friday. The cheerleaders held a well -- planned assembly filled with pie eating contests and exciting relays. Uevi tolo painting class set Mrs. Toni Rollins will instruct a Tole Painting Class, more commonly known as Art Decorative Painting tor the Milford Community Schools. The class will begin Tuesday, September 25, 1984 at the Milford Elementary School at 7:00 p.m. Instruction will include both acrylic and oils. Stroke methods will be emphasized. Artistic ability is not a prerequisite for the class. All interested persons are encouraged to register for the class. Registration for the class will be Monday, September 24, 1984 in the Milford Elementary School Multipurpose room. The registration fee is $20.00 The students will be expected to furnish their own brushes and woods. In order to take the class, students must have or purchase ,the appropriate brushes. The cost for the brushes is $16.85. Wood to paint on will need to be purchased from time to time. The first project for the class costs approximately $6.19. Paints for the class will be furnished. They flew to Las Vegas and visited there and then Carlos Shakespeare competition scheduled Providing high school students with the opportunity to perform Shakespeare on the world famous Adams Memorial Stage as well as participating in a competition that emphasizes learning rather than winning, the eighth annual Southern Utah State College Shakespeare Competition is scheduled for September 28 and 29 in Cedar City. Response to the invitation to participate has been extremely gratifying according to R. Scott Phillips, SUSC faculty member in charge of the competition. "On the basis of advance registrations, we have expanded our divisions and awards this year, as we want to welcome every high school student who wishes the opportunity to perform Shakespeare, Phillips stated. Large and small schools are entered in separate competition, with awards in each division. The Utah Shakespearean Festival in cooperation withSouth-er- n Utah State College will award eight scholarships to winning participants in mono acts and duo scenes.
