Show I?' I- I , "If :k' ! I K. G. Van Horn SERVICES HELD FOR R. G. VAN HORN Robert Grant Van Horn, 69, died July 31 in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake. Mr. Van Horn was born March 29, 1900 in Tina, Mo., to Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Smith Van Horn. After his mother died when he was three years old, he lived in an orphanage, or-phanage, later with his sisters. He was a veteran of World War I, and ,was wounded on active duty in France. He was employed in Hoxie, Kan., as a brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad. In 1933 he moved to Florissant, Colo., where he served as constable of Teller County, and later was manager of the Colorado College Col-lege ranch holdings at Woodland Wood-land Park. In 1945 he moved to Los Angeles, An-geles, and was part owner and manager of copper properties for Turtle Mountain Mining Co. He also was active in Colorado uranium mining properties. In 1961 he made his permanent home in Milford. In 1919 he married Leona Chandler of Hoxie, Kansas. They had one daughter, Mary Helen. They were divorced. He married Alice Wynaught, May, 20, 1957. Mr. Van Horn was a member of the Christian Church,, the Society of Mining Engineers, Veterans of World War I, the Elks Lodge, and The American Legion. Funral services were conducted con-ducted Monday in the Milford Community Methodist Church, under direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary, with Rev. Jim Sloan officiating. Full military honors were conferred by Milford Post No. 16, The American Legion. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mary Helen Clark, of Earp Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Bolam, Brawley, Cal.; three grandaughters, and four greatgrandchildren. |
