Show Funeral Held Up-State For Minersville Native Funeral services were held in Hunter August 22 for Leslie Wells Blackburn, 64, a native of Minersville, Miners-ville, who died the preceding Wednesday Wed-nesday at his home after a lingering linger-ing illness. Services were held in Hunter LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Dangerfield directing. Prelude and postlude music was by Marilyn Culley, the opening prayer by Jack Marshall, the benediction by Sem-uel Sem-uel Hill, and the grave dedication in Valley View Memorial Park by Thern Blackburn. Speakers were Charles Jameson, Bishop Lawrence Doxey, and Bishop Bish-op Dangerfield. Musical numbers consisted of a vocal solo, "Oh, My Father," by Ephraim J. Furness jr., accompanied by Irene Furness; Continued on Page Two HERK'S MORK ABOUT Leslie Blackburn Continued from Page One a violin solo, "Lay My Head Beneath Be-neath a Rose," by Linda Prince, accompanied by Floyd Danger-field; Danger-field; a vocal duet, "In the Garden," Gar-den," by Rondo Manwaring and Kelly Pierce; and a male quartet number, "Sometime We'll Understand," Under-stand," by Mr. Furness, Mr. Man-waring, Man-waring, Mr. Pierce, and Bernell Jones. Pallbearers were Douglas Blackburn, Black-burn, Thern Blackburn, Walt Richards, Rich-ards, Russel Van Feet, Frank Terry,' Ter-ry,' and Richard Young. Attending the services from Beaver Bea-ver were Mrs. Linda Munford, Mrs. Linda Prince and son Clark, and Mrs. Nell Hutchings. Mr. Blackburn was born April 11, 1895, in Minersville, a son of Anthony F. and Mary Ellen Stoddard Stod-dard Backburn. He married Lottie Twitchell Richards January 13, 1926, in Parowan, the marriage later being solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a retired re-tired farmer and was active in the LDS Church. Survivors are his widow; two daughters and a son, Mrs. Reva Snyder, Niagara Falls, N. Y.; and Mrs. Ida Young and Thern Blackburn, Black-burn, both of Salt Lake City; also a stepson, Joseph W. Richards, Hunter; and 10 grandchildren. |
