Show THE FIFTY-POUND COW A new world's record for all breeds for butterfat production in the seven day division was established estab-lished by the pure bred Holstein-Fri-sian cow, Segis Fayne Johanna, 11465S, in a test ending Jeriuary 8, 1917. This remarkable cow produced pro-duced 50.68 pounds of butter in 7 consecutive days, and the official test was conducted by supervisors from the New York State Agricultural College, Col-lege, Ithica, N. Y. Segis Fayne Johanna, by her wonderful won-derful achievement, is now the most talked of cow in the world, and her sensational record marks a signal triumph in the forward march of the Holstein-Friesian breed. She was bred by A. A. Coltelyou, of Somerville, N. J., and her present pres-ent owner is Oliver CabanarJr., proprietor prop-rietor of Pine Grove Farms, Elma Center, N. Y., at which noted establishment estab-lishment four other world's record holders have been developed during the past six months. The new world's record holder freshened at the age of 8 years. 2 months and 17 days. She is four-fifths four-fifths white, weighs about 1450 lbs. and is sired by King Fayne Segis 46767, a daughter of Johanna Rue ?d's Lad and Vikina Clothide. The test was made under perfect conditions, absolute quiet, systematic systemat-ic feeding and milking and a roomy stall constructed of clean, white enameled walls. Segis Fayne Johanna's seven day production of over 50 pounds of butter but-ter surpasses that of Hester Aaltje Korndyke. the previous world's record re-cord holder by 3.91 pounds.
