Show MOSCOW STRIKE HELPS ALL OF BEAVER COUNTY Striking $80 ore on the deepest level In the Moscow mine in Star district, dis-trict, out about ten miles to Ihe southwest of Milford, is considered one of the best things that has occurred oc-curred in southern Utah in years. It is taken as proving beyond cavil that Beaver county oreB in more than one camp go to great depth. Mine operators oper-ators and engineers who have taken the stand that all the Beaver section required to establish its permanency was capital directed by scientific skill, and there could be but one result, re-sult, are as much delighted as the Moscow stockholders themselves. The strike in the Moscow is out on the 1400-foot level. Here a drift from the electrically-equipped Cullen shaft has been driven in a westerly direction to make connection with the workings from the old shaft on the west end. Supt. G. S. Wilkin reported re-ported to the Salt Lake office that he has three feet of ore that la expected to sample 4 0 per c unt lead and 10 to 15 ounces Bllver. The first Indication Indica-tion that the deep dnrt was approaching ap-proaching an ore body was when a few days ago some Iron appeared in the face of the drift. Then this increased in-creased and a narrow streak of ore appeared. This widened to a foot and now to three feet. The ore Is said to be showing every indication of making in all directions, up, ahead and going down. The samples taken from the foot streak gave returns of 8 ounces silver and 35 per cent lead, but now the values are reported Improving Im-proving as the vein wldons. This Is characteristic of Moscow ore shoots. As the new discovery Is practically under the Silver ore stope on the 1100 level of the old workings, It Is concluded that this Is the downward extension of that body. This Is 300 feet vertically below the 1100. On the dip It will give about 450 feet of barks. This, It Is declared, Is sufficient suf-ficient to make a new mine out of to Moscow. It la expected to get a large production from the new ore shoot. The ore can be readily run to the Cullen shaft and hoisted with one lift. The Moscow produced ten carloadH or about 500 tons of ore in February from various places In the old workings. work-ings. Up to the 14th of this month the shipments had totalled seven carloads, car-loads, or about 350 tons. The mine is completely equipped for a heavy production, which Is anticipated for the latter part of March. The Moscow treasury Is understood under-stood to contain $25,000 to $30,000. A dividend was distributed lant January. Jan-uary. $22,500, bringing the total up to $89,000. An Increase In distributions distribu-tions In already anticipated as a result re-sult of the new strike. i |
