" An order suspending tions of the Utah-Idah- o opera- r'P Central Railroad Corp, as of 12:10 a. m. Sunday, February 15 was issued by Federal Judge Tillman D. Johnson la.st Thursday following a hearing on the first report of S. J. Quinney, receiver ci the line. The order does not affect motor bus lines from Ogden to Preston, Idaho, and in the city of Logan. Mr, Quinney entered a petition requesting instructions in which he revealed that the line, which operates from Ogden to Preston, was losing from $000 to $'500 daily, that it was in need of repairs and that resignation of key employes was making operation difficult and hazardous. Judge Johnson concluded at the hearing that future operaresult only in contin tion ued losses and the suspension at this time would create a mini-muof inconvenience since the railroad's business colume is lowest the first few months of the year. Also, December 19, 1946, when Mr. Quinney was named receiver after a suit against the railroad had teen filed by the First Security Bank of Utah and William II. Loos, shippers were notified of the probability of suspension. Mr. Quinney has filed petition with the Interstate Commerce commission asking for an order athorizing total abandonment of the railroad. Judge Johnson's order was given pending a hearing and consequent decision by the commission. a- .
