Durrant Betty Ann Nickel Avant Page 6 -.( Gary Edward Ludlow, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend has gone to be in peace with the Lord on December 5, 2008 at age 59. Gary was born on July 21, 1949 in Al-hambra, Al-hambra, Cali fornia to his wonderful parents, Charles Max (deceased) and Virginia Ludlow. He was raised in Brigham City, Utah and Sacramento, California. On June 8, 1985 Gary married his beautiful wife and best friend, Laurie Deane Anderson in the Provo, LDS Temple. Gary was also a devoted role model and loving father for his 8 wonderful children; Summer (Rob), Sunny, Zachariah (TBD), Herrick (Sylvia), (Syl-via), Nathan (Sabine), Jacob (Bethany), (Beth-any), Rebekah, Matthew. Gary was thrilled and excited to be a warm and loving grandfather to 9 beautiful grandchildren; Anthony, Leah, Christopher, Sienna, James, Ethan, Timothy, Julianna and Isabela. He is also remembered by his three beloved siblings; Greg (deceased), Deanna, and Dennis. Gary graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He loved sports, acting, writing, and cooking. He loved taking his family on vacations. Gary also ran cross-country for UCLA, which lead to his love of cycling. At the peak of his cycling career, he won 2nd place in the California State championships and completed several Logan to Jackson (Lotoja) races as well as many others. Gary had a great sense of humor and always loved to make people laugh. . He was a faithful member of the American Fork 29th Ward and served actively in various callings. As an award winning insurance and real estate agent, he worked very hard for his family fam-ily who were his greatest joy. We love him and miss him and we celebrate his life. A viewing will be held on Friday, Fri-day, December 12th at the Anderson Ander-son and Son's Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday December, 13 at 12 noon in American Ameri-can Fork East Stake, 29th Ward building, 300 N. 695 E. viewing at 10:45am. Roberta earned two undergraduate degrees at the University of Alaska and later earned graduate degrees as a certified nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner from the Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery and Family Nursing. She earned her master's in nursing from Case Western Reserve University. Roberta is employed by Mt, Timpanogos Women's Health Care and can be reached by calling 801 .756.5288. Intermountain ; American Fork Hospital Stewart A. Durrant passed away peacefully at home on Sat urday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the age of 95. Stewart was born Dec. 17. 1912, to William Albert and Marinda Mayne Durrant of American Fork. He was the eldest of nine brothers and sisters, all but two of whom (John and George) preceded him in death. On May 25, 1934, he married the love of his life, Leola Goates, in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union were born four children: S. Olani (Gayle), Vicki Thompson (Heber), Stephen W (Francoise) and Mary Anne Peck (Ronald), 26 grandchildren, and 60 great-grandcliildren and one great-great-grandchild. After nearly 73 years together, Leola preceded him in death on Easter of last year. Stewart grew up in American Fork and graduated from A.F. High School in 1931. He attended BYU and the U of U prior to his marriage. In 1935, he and Leola were called on a mission to Hawaii for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following Fol-lowing their mission they settled in Lehi for a brief time until they completed a home in American Fork. During the ensuing years, Stewart worked for American Fork City, the Utah Poultry Co-op, New York Life, the Utah Growers Grow-ers and Sliippers and the Utah Celery Co-op. In 1955 he was hired to be the general manager of the Matanuska Valley Farmers Farm-ers Cooperative Association in Palmer, Alaska. He left Alaska in 1963 to become the President of the Alaskan-Canadian Mission of the LDS Church with headquarters headquar-ters in Vancouver, Canada. Upon completing that mission in 1966, he and Leola moved back to Utah where he took a position at LDS Church headquarters. He served on a number of Church committees commit-tees and worked closely with Church leaders in developing the Basic Unit Program. He eventually eventu-ally became Director of the La-manite La-manite and Minorities Program of the Church. Upon his retirement in 1983, he was appointed director direc-tor of the Hawaii Temple Visitors Center where he and Leola served for two years. Active in his church throughout his life, he has served in numerous callings including Bishop, Branch President, High Councilor, and Regional Representative of the Council of the Twelve in addition to Mission President. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the American Fork 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 320 N. 100 E. Friends and family called Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Sunbrook Hospice for two years of loving care of their father with a special thanks to Tonia Stewart. She was born September Septem-ber 26, 1931 in Los Angeles, CA to Joseph Walter and Helen Saley Nickel. She married Norman Nor-man Terry Avant on Oct 2, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. She was a great Mom and Grandma whose life revolved arourid her family. Survived by her husband, Nor- 1 tr man; daughters, Susan Avant and Debbie (Rick) Pierce; grandchildren, grandchil-dren, Travis Avant; Bill Pierce; Bob Pierce, Brian Pierce; sisters, Lola Young, Zola Musich, Ruth Nickel and brother Garnett Nickel. Nick-el. Preceded in death by parents and grandson Brent Pierce. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:30 pm in the American Fork 31st Ward, 1305 North 100 East with a visitation prior to the services from 1:30 to 2:15 pm at the church. "Pete" Moore "Pete" Moore left his earthly family on November 8, 2008 to be with his Heavenly Father. Fa-ther. His final days were spent at his home in Peyton, Pey-ton, Colorado with all of his family by his side. He was born on October Octo-ber 5, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio to John Wesley and Dorothy Duke Vance Moore. He married Shirley Anne Turner on March 5, 1951 in Pleasant Grove, Utah and they had four children: Sharon, John, Linda, and Bill. They were long-time residents of Pleasant Grove, Utah. All his life Pete was a proud family man always putting his family first and enjoying their continued growth with 2 "in the oven". He was always laughing, loved to make others laugh with his cliches and songs, and was quick with a kind word. He was a 48-year member of the Local Union 3 and proud of his group award from them for over 1.8 million man hours logged as a crane operator without any accidents. He was a Master Mason Ma-son and logged 4 lifetime memberships mem-berships in Story Lodge 4 and Damascus 10. He is survived by his wiferShir-ley; wiferShir-ley; 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, sis-ter, Kate Warden. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: John Wesley Jr., Harold, Gaylon, and Mary Allen.. He was buried in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
