Barnes Don Fletcher Barnes, age 85 of Lehi, died May 13, 2008 at his home of natu ral causes. He was born Aug. 14, 1922 in Lehi, Utah, son of Jesse Jerome and Cynthia Elizabeth Eliza-beth Jacobs Barnes. He served in World War II in the Air Force and following fol-lowing the war made the military his career. He eventually went to i' i work at Tooele Ordinance Depot where he retired as an electriciaa He was a member of the IDS Church. He is survived by two brothers broth-ers and one sister: Van Barnes, California; Milo Barnes and Meirl Busk, both of Lehi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded pre-ceded in death by his parents and a sister Verla DeMine. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m at the Lehi City Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Veterans of Foreign For-eign Wars. Husband Bob Dunkel, daughter Elise Dunkel, father Loyal Iverson, Iver-son, brothers broth-ers Randy Iverson and Craig Meyer, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins survive her. Her mother, JoAnn Smith Iverson, and both sets of grandparents preceded pre-ceded Terri in death. Terri lived in American Fork, Utah until she was fourteen years old, and then moved to the San Jose, California area with her father. In 1979, she moved to Broomfield, Colorado, where she married Bob and raised Elise. Terri worked several years in the electronics industry as a buyer. Three years ago she left the school system to help create and establish a day program called Friends Unlimited, a program providing day activities for handicapped handi-capped young adults after they age out of the school system. This program assists disabled young people to develop life skills and become as independent as possible. pos-sible. Terri gave countless hours to make the community of Broomfield, Broom-field, Colorado a friendly and special spe-cial place for her students. All of her kids loved her and her legacy will continue. Terri was a founding member of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Broomfield, Inc., a local non-profit organization organiza-tion supporting the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. As a member of the Board of Directors, she helped promote awareness about disabilities disabili-ties and advocated tirelessly for the improvement of services in the community. She volunteered with Special Olympics for years and lobbied successfully to get therapeutic recreation established. Terri had an infinite amount of love and empathy for those with physical and mental challenges. Terri had a great love for her family and numerous friends, who will all miss her dearly. She had a special bond with her father and looked forward to spending several sev-eral weeks with him in California every summer. It was Terri's wish to be cremated. cre-mated. Her ashes were scattered in the ocean at Point Lobos State Reserve near Monterey, California Califor-nia and also at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. There will also be a special memorial gathering in honor of Terri's life at her mother's graveside in the American Fork, Utah cemetery. A prayer will be offered by her uncle, Hal Holmstead. Family and friends will be notified of the date and time.
