After filing with the Secre tary of State, the Governor said that continuance of the indus trial and tourist promotion pro grams would be key issues along with continuing support to eauca tion. In a nress conference at the filing, Governor Rampton made the following Statement: "inree years szo. we began a program to expand the industry of Utah so that we could stop the loss of our most vital resource.. our educated young people. New industry will also relieve our tax burden by spreading it over additional taxpaying companies "There have been more than 150 firms moved to Utah and many local businesses have ex Danded as a result of this com bined effort to entice industry and to improve our business climate. "Utah's new. strong voice has opened a stream of interest by maior industries. There is no nuestion in mv mind that we can turn that stream into a flood of plants... supplying the jobs to keep our ycing people home. "We are Drovidine the pro motional and management tools to our communities outside the Wasatch Front. Today, many rural areas are obtaining plants, znd a surge of economic life from increased tourist activity. "We have restored our peo Die's confidence in their state. In fact, there is a new spirit nhroad in Utah... a spirit mat will carry us to greater ac- onmnlishments. "Our state government must he modernized and streamlined "Our momentum as a people must be maintained by men and women who care about their com munitv and state. "Growth will bring new prob lems. But we still have time to learn from the experience of others... and to develop our so ciety into a community with op Dortunitv for everyone. "The task is long and diffi cult... and there is much yet to hp done. We can continue to move Utah forward in her search for economic strength. "With this determination ...I have filed my intention to seek a second term as Governor of Utah."
