Show ESTEEMED RESIDENT OF PUME DIES Joseph K. Thorno died nt his residence resi-dence In Salt Ijika Tuesday evening, from influenza-pneumonia. Mr. Thomo was slxty-soven years ot ago, and tho son of David Thorno nnd Elizabeth Hooves Thorno. Ho was born In Pleasant Grovo, whoro all during his llfo he has taken nn nc- tlvo part In tho up building of this community. Ho served as marshal of this city for eight yenrs and was lator elected ,mayor, which ho served for four terms after .this ho was elected city council-man council-man for four terms. In 1895 ho was appointed a dclcgato to tho constitutional constitu-tional convention at Salt Inko. At tho ngo of 36, Mr. Thorno was mado counselor In tho nishoprio of the Pleasant Grovo church work, under un-der tho lato Ulshop John Drown nnd at tho release of Ulshop Drown ho was mndo bishop or Pleasant Grovo, which was then ono enUro ward. Ho held this office for fifteen years, when ho becanioa member of tho high counsel of'ljtah Stako. Mr. Thorno was at one tlmo manager man-ager and director of tho Pleasant Grovo Mercantile Co. and later owner own-er and manager of Joseph- E. Thorno and Co. Mercantile. In 1906 ho moved from here to Salt Lako City, whoro ho has been engaged engag-ed in tho real eatnto business. Ills wifo, Elizabeth Thome, died In 1911. Ijiter ho married MIbs HatUo Ueck of Salt Isiko. Ho Is survived by his wife and tho following children: Mrs. lxwnard Went of Provo; Mrs. A. U nrown of Salt Lttkc; Mrs. Icon Smith and Mr. Charles E. Thomo of Pleasant Grovo; two brothers, Robert It., and David Thorno of this qlty and ono sister, Mm. Emma Cobblcy of niockfoot, Ida. Kunoral services wero held nt his resldenco In Salt Lako Friday morning mor-ning nt 10 o'clock, nftor which tho body was brought to this city whero services weronlso- held. j.
