Show I 1 0 0 I 1 RICHFIELD HIGH 1 SCHOOL 0 0 monday assembly A very interesting assembly was held at the high monday day morning two songs the flutes of autumn and come where t the lilies bloom were well render rendered by the high school chorus mr ogden offered the invocation frank baker president of the student body gave a short talk on the trip he and mr hansen took to gunnison saturday there they represented our school in making the schedule for the football games game s of the season mr hansen made a few remarks trying to encourage more enthusiasm among the boys and the student body the remainder of the period was spent in practising practicing new yells everyone joined in and it was plainly shown that our school is chuck full of pep and vim when lie we e put our spirit into it special foot ball rally A short assembly was held thurs 1 I day at three thirty to encourage our football foot ball team which left friday to play a game with ephraim at the close of the assembly the boys were given a rousing yell which sent se n t them away with the determination to win from froin the pals office the teachers of the high school are reported as all having their certificates properly filed except miss ball whose application has been received by the board of education beet vacation next monday will mark the beginning of our annual beet vacation which will last from october 13 to 24 2 4 needless to say this announcement by mr TA martin brought smiles and cheers from all students who a few minutes before had worn a blue monday look mr ir I 1 hansen our coach who has been ill the past week is hero here again ready to take up his work mr george hansen took his place while he was absent an article in III the payson high school paper reported that the girls were the ones who were playing with marbles this year hanging them to their ears with little chains it Is quite evident that this custom has also become popular in richfield clifield RI both teachers and students are puzzled very much because of the large number of students i n each class the classes are far too large tor for work of the highest quality to be accomplished by either teacher or student since it is necessary however we will have to do the best we can i the following statistics show the registration tor for the present year in the high school class boys girls total freshmen 45 46 74 sophomores Sophomore a 40 78 US juniors 46 36 82 seniors 21 35 56 post graduate 1 I I 1 totals we are very proud of our school because of the increase in registration over previous years the increase is shown by the following figures october 10 1919 october 8 1920 october 7 1921 october 6 1922 we were very much delighted that the richfield high school along with the salina high school had won the twenty tn enty dollar purse offered by dr markus for the reaper reports that were handed in by the english department part ment last year aside from the fact that this newspaper work advertises our school by bringing it before the public it helps to develop tho the ability of the students who act as reporters we are not yet certain what will be done with the money but it will probably be used for special english books which are needed very much by the english department wildcats tio tie score with snow last friday was the opening date of our football season 0 our ur men played the opening game with the snow junior college at ephraim they arrived in ephraim with the happy go lucky spirit intent upon showing the opponent what is meant by a football game their ideas were helped along in this line when they saw the opposing team they were smaller than the wildcats and looked easy these ideas and viewpoints may be called the downfall of our men in III the opening game they were overconfident over confident they lacked the usual seriousness and it robbed thorn them of their the ir fighting spirit the first few labutes ni of the game looked bad tor for Ep ephraem Eph raYm hraTin the wildcats walked right through biern hem and in less than five minutes the score was six to nothing in favor of however after tins this to touchdown h our men lost their pep aia ail the opponents seemed to add more to their supply before the first halt half was over the score was tied by snow there may have been some hard luck added to our misfortune the wildcats could tear through the op posing line make it look like a sure touchdown and thon then lose the ball on one occasion they had three yards to go in four downs but they did not make at it neither team could score again so the game ended with a tie score lineup richfield snow A chidester c cE E isaacson J nelson rg G jackson D sorensen rt C thompson I 1 na M RamIo re H larsen F baker ag J beal F it R burr R beal deal bealler ae ler R bagnall B hansen cab B bagley L porter abl christensen A gray iab R noyes G meyers jhb C armstrong substitutes R blomquist J nelson neison |
