Show SENATOR KING OPPOSES SOLDIERS' PENSION RILL The attention of the editor has been called to articles In the National Nation-al Tribune, published at Washington Washing-ton of dates April 29 and May 13, in which Senator King of Utah is shown as being very much opposed to pension pen-sion bills in behalf of veterans of the Mexican war and the Spanish-American war. The article in the earlier dated paper deals with what is known as the Fuller bill, ami Senator King's opposition was so pronounced that he "was flntlv :nformed that hp was trying to tai), bill to dfath.'' He thanked God that the soldiers in the recent war were not treated, as the veterans of the Civil War were." The paper of later date states: "On Monday. May ?,. Senator New, of Indiana, who Is in charge of II. R. ?. the Spanish War veterans pension bill, asked unanimous consent for the consideration of that measure. Objection was immediately offered hy Senator W. If. King, of Utah, whereupon Senator New gave notice ' that the next morning he would move to take It up." Next morning the bill was taken up. Senator New .in explanation of the hill said in part: "It is 22 years since the Spanish-American, war wns fought, and this is the n r-t pension legislation that has been proposed for the benefit of the survivors of that war."
