Show THE WATER SITUATION There is some water coming down the Beaver River today as we go to press. By actual measurement, there is 375 second-feet passing under un-der the Beaver River bridge south of town. About 600 second-feet are coming into the Minersvillo reservoir reser-voir and about 450 feet going out. The water level in the reservoir is 47 feet; the upper spillway is at 53 feet and the top of the dam Is 59 feet, so the water must raise about six feet before it reaches the upper spillway and about 12 feet before the top of the dam is reached. The capacity of the lower gate or tunnel' is approximately 1000 second-feet when the water is at the 50-foot level; lev-el; the capacity of the upper gate is about the same and the capacity of the upper spillway is still another thousand, so that if it became necessary, neces-sary, about 3000 second-feet could be taken out, and as the maximum flow of the Beaver River is about 1000 feet, it does not seem possible that there is not ample leeway. The capacity of the reservoir is a little over 30,000 acre-feet or about 15000 second-feet. There are less than 20,000 acre-feet in the reservoir at the present pres-ent time. The pressure of the water against the face of the dam averages at present level a little less than ten pounds to the Inch. |
