Show , II. S. CARNIVAL BIG SUCCESS One of the biggest successes of the year was the Carnival at the High School last Friday night. From shortly after seven o'clock until after af-ter twelve unrestrained merrymaking merrymak-ing went on to the satisfaction of old and young. The fact that the High School basket ball team suceeeeded in defeating de-feating Hinckley after so many years being beaten by that team, was a very important factor in adding a new life and spirit to the occasion. After the game everyone adjourned to the auditorium where the carnival carni-val was in full swing and to the time of the orchestra music proceeded proceed-ed to investigate the marvels of the various booths. The lights going out more or le"ss, seemed to have no effect on the good spirits' of the crowd. Every booth and attraction was patronized freely to the financial finan-cial benefit of the school and to the amusement of the patrons. To add a fitting climax to the evening's ev-ening's pleasure a jitney dance was given and attended by a very large crowd of dancers. Confetti and paper pa-per caps were very conspicuous, and did much in making the dance a great success. Friday noon the students of the High School gave vent to their overflow ov-erflow enthusiasm by forming into procession paraded the town with banners flying and a mighty volume of noise. A "funeral cortege." with Hinckley basket ball championship as the deceased, lead the parade and ''We've Got Hinckley's Goat" brought brou-ght up the rear. Burning Hinckley honors in effigy was the final act of the event before disbanding. |
