Friday Aug. 11, 1944 $1.5Q Per Year THE U. S. SERVICE Word has been received that Glen Stuart who is in the Bushnell hospital is slowly improving. A telegram was received by Mr .and Mrs Marriner Brown from their son, George, who has arrived back in the U. S. A. again. We all feel happy for these parents and family. Friday night a party was held at the home of Ray Dean for Shervin, who leaves Wednesday for the armed forces. His family, brothers and sisters and their family and a few near relatives were in attendance. His sister Thea, who lives at , Layton was not present, nor Loraine who is in the South West Pacific. A lovely evening was spent talking of childhood days and a lovely lunch was also served. We wish Shervin good luck, a speedy return and Gods proecting care over his family. Mrs. Lizzie Eastman got a letter from Arvel and he is in the hospital, but said it was a cold and that he would try and see Wynn Huffakefr when he gets out. We are all surely hoping they get to see each other. Mr. Claude Cornia is home on furlough. His folks met him at Evanston Sunday. He will go to Chesterfield, Idaho Monday to get his wdfe. A letter was received from Roy Cox this weke stating he and Loraine Dean are only about a block apart again and can see each other real often. Shervin Dean and Glen Cornia leave for Salt Lake this morning to enter the t armed forces. May they be placed where they will enjoy their work and may they soon return home to us. She thought he was in his room up stairs sleeping, so she was really shocked. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burleigh and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. Cox Sunday. Miss Davis of Logan remained after her grandfather's funeral Monday to visit with Mra. Leslie Cornia and family. Tuesday Relief Society was held at the hoe of Sophia. A large crowd attended and a fine time had with refreshments being sered also. It was nice for Mrs. Ashton as she is so home bound. Francis Jean Hopkins of Salt Lake md daughter Eileen Hopkins is here spending a few days with Vern and Lou Hopkins and families and Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Annie Frazier. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Weistien and boys of Woods Cross spent the week end with, her parents, Mr and Mrs. Melvin Putnam. Eddis Huffaker and children motored to Randolph Wednesday and spent the day visiting with her father and sister, Freda Sorenson. They returned to their home- in Syracuse early in the afternoon. ' He was bom June 7, 1866, in Salt Lake City, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Rich South. The family moved to Randolph when he was a small boy, where he attended the town schools., On Oct. 10, 1891, he married Mary Elizabeth Piggott. From 1900 to 1902 he served an LDS mission in Tennessee. During his residence in Rich county, he served as Rich county clerk and sheriff. In 1909 the family moved to Trenton, where they engaged in farming and real estate. In 1919 he moved to Logan and worked as a carpenter until In 1933, when they moved to Ogden. January, 1936.
