Gary Scoffield. She was married to Darvel Ira Miller on March 20. 1918, in Farmington. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Dec. 3, 1961. Simmons of the Layton West Stake offi- HARRY HARLAND SIMMONS Harry Harland Simmons, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Layton, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1982 of cardiac arrest , following an automobile accident to in Kanab. He was his Mesa home at the time of the accident. te MR. SIMMONS was born Jan. 8, 1904 in Layton. He was the son of Alma Edward and Sarah Blanche Thomley Sim. mons. He married Mabel Porter on Sept. 22, 1930, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. For 30 years Mr. Simmons was associated with the Intermountain Knitting Mills in Ogden, later moving to Logan. He was employed with the Cache Knitting Company there. He then purchased the Transport Motor Company in Logan and operated this until 10 years later it was destroyed by fire. He and his wife then moved to Mesa, where he was a real estate broker in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Ariz. HE WAS educated in the schools of Davis County and the state of Utah. He was an active member of the Mesa 41st LDS Ward, and was a High Priest. He had held numerous leadership positions, being a Seventies quorum leader for many years. He also served a two and one-hayear mission to Australia. Surviving are his widow of Mesa; two sons and two daughters, Stephen Simmons, Northridge, Calif.; Richard lf Miller, John P. Adams, Bishop Maurice Lee and William Wood, np SUE WAS born Nov. 22. . - and a Visiting Teacher for 40 years. She had also sung with the Relief Society Singing Mothers. Mrs. Miller had been an active civic leader, serving for 20 years in the Davis County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years, and a mem- ber of the 0 No. 151 of Weber County. SHE HAD held offices in the Kaysville Art Club, the Athena Club and the ALonas Club. Surviving are one son and one daughter, John D. West, Mrs. Lyle (Linda) Keller, all of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; six and five greatgrandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ivy Mudd, Denver, Colo. Carroll, 70, of 327 Larkin Lane, Kaysville? died Friday, Sept. 17, 1982 at the Davis North Medical Center of a heart attack. HE WAS bom May 25, 1912, Cuba, Mo., a son of Lester and Cora Mae Souders l. in Car-rol- He married Eloise Sessions on May 28, 1936 in Ogden. HE HAD been a carpenter and had done a lot of carpentry work in Kaysville and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No. 450, for 35 years. He had lived in St. Louis, Mo., during his earlier years, and had also lived in Chesterfield, Idaho, Yakima, Wash., and had lived in Kaysville for the past 31 years.
