Joshua Latham Services held for Latham Joshua Latham, 16, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on June 28, 1988. He was born August 3, 1971 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Pete Latham and Janet Smuin. He was a junior in high school at Big Pincy, Wyoming. He enjoyed wrestling, football, and track. He was a former resident of Vernal and attended the first trimester at Uintah High School last year. He is survived by his mother, Janet Smuin Bohannon of Prcscott, Ariz.; father, Pete Latham of Grand Junction, Colorado; brothers and sisters, Scan Latham, Lance Alcott, Katy Bohannon, Tana Bohannon, all of Prcscott, Arizona; grandparents, Robert and. Marie Smuin of Piccance Creek, Colo.; Benny and Jane Rcdficld of Sail Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Duffy of Grand Junction, Colo. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2 at the Jensen Ward Chapel. Bishop Byron Tolman conducted the services. Bishop " Tolman offered the family prayer. Prelude .and postludc music was played by Amy Lube. Bishop Tolman offered the invocation and then gave some remarks. DcVon Smuin offered a musical number, . "Old Rugged Cross." Ray Clark spoke, followed bytil musical number by DcVon Smuin, "The Place Thai I Worship Is The Wide Open Spaces." Dick Jacobson pave some remarks. The benediction was offered by Leo Snow. Leo Snow pave ihc Mark Reed Hansen Hansen services held June 29 Mark Reed Hansen, 39, of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Roosevelt and Sandy, Utah died June 24, 1988 from accidental drowning while on a business trip to California. He was born May 9, 1949 in Ogdcn to Reed and Mary Reed Hansen. He married Judy Janky August 18, 1975 in Reno, Nevada. He was a sales manager for Hewlett Packard and a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kent and Bruce, all of Redmond, Wash.; aunts, Louise Gultcry of Idolbrook, Ariz.; Margaret Phillips of Vernal; cousins, Sandi Gultcry and Doug Phillips of Vernal; and Duanc Phillips of Casa Grande, Arizona. Funeral mass was held Wednesday, June 29 at St. Helens Catholic Church in Roosevelt, Utah. Father David Schorr officiated. Pallbearers were: Bruce Hansen, Paul Janky, Craig Caldwell, Jerry Yack, Doug Phillips and Chuck Pope. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park. " wonder what happens, if I push tJu lUnf,';' hil'MlT I I- J - YV I " ill Richard Conrad Kirk Former resident dies June 25 Richard Conrad Kirk, 25, of Denver, Colorado drowned in East Allen Reservoir near Medicine Bow, Wyoming on June 25, 1988. Richard is survived by his wife Staccy, of Denver, Colo.; his parents Gene C. Kirk and Rachel Riley Kirk of Vernal; two brothers, Douglas (Marie) Kirk of Salt Lake City, Jeffrey Kirk of Vernal; three sisters, Mrs. Wade (Deborah) Soulham of Vernal; Mrs. Darrcll (Rebecca) Matthews of Baltimore, Maryland; Cynthia Kirk of Vernal; and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Richard was born in Provo, Utah on June 6, 1963. He was raised in Vernal, Utah where he graduated from Uintah High School in 1981. He attended Alamon Training Center in Columbia Falls, Montana where he trained to be a communications system technician. He was employed at the lime of his death by Dave Mills Communications, Inc. of Denver, Colorado. Richard loved hunting, fishing, and outdoor aciivitics. He coached numerous Softball learns each summer in Denver. Richard was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Lattcr-Day Lattcr-Day Saints. Funeral services were held in Littleton, Colorado on July 1, 1988. Richard was buried in Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, Colorado. Orville Hatch Swain July 7 services for Orville Swain Orville Hatch Swain, 79, of Lapoint, Ulah died July 4, 1988 at the Ashley Valley Medical Center, in Vernal, Uintah County, Utah, after a long illness. Orville was born October 12, 1908 in Vernal, Uintah County, Ulah to Abncr and Pcrmilla Jane Hatch Swain. He married Ora May Anderson June 14, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many church positions. He spent his life farming in Lapoint. He loved gardening, always spending time outdoors with his garden and rockwork. He served four terms as a Uintah County Commissioner, serving as Chairman of the Board for six out of eight years. He also served as president of the Whitcrocks Irrigation Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora May on August 14, 1987; a grandson, Rocky Shae Swain; two brothers, Harold (Doc) Swain, and Bert Swain. He is survived by his children, Mrs. Marvin (Jolccn) Olioscn of Woodland Park, Colo.; Orvin A. Swain of Lapoint; G. Von Swain of Cedar City; and Mrs. George T. W. (LaRcc) Miller of Roosevelt; eleven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mildred Mowrcy of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Orpha Palmer of Pocatcllo, Idaho; Orcn (Hank) Swain of Ncola; Mrs. Jim (Genevieve) Schacfcrmcycr of Seward, Alaska; and Darold Swain of Denver, Colorado. Services held for Gee Raymond Merrill Gee, 82, died July 1, 1988 at the Ashley Valley Medical Ccnicr. He was born August 18, 1905 in Conneaut, Ohio to Frederick Merrill and Nellie West Gee. He married Vcrgic Goodrich October 25, 1944 in Salt Lake City. He was a policeman for Vernal City for 21 years. He was a World War II, Army Air Force veteran, a member of Congregational Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working as a policeman and working with young people. He is survived by his wife of Naples; two children, Mrs. Charles (Leri Dawn) Smith of Orcm; Lieutenant Col. Robert M. Gee of Scott Air Force Base, O'Fallon, 111.; and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 5 at the Naples First Ward Chapel. Bishop Norman Haslcm conducted the services. Hugh Richens offered a family prayer. Prelude and postludc music was played by Ada Opcnshaw. Karl Halvor Goodrich offered the invocation. Bishop Haslcm gave some remarks, followed by a musical number, "Whispering Hope" sung by Frances Mcrrcll and Connie Molt, accompanied by Marilyn Smith. Glen Reynolds spoke, followed by a violin solo, "It Had To Be You" by Lorna Condon, accompanied by Ruth Walker.
