' In the case of the Park City Ski Area, most of us weren't around 25 years ago to catch the real story. Yeah, we've all heard the old mine-town-becomes-ski-town story before, but like any superficial tale, we lose interest. The real interest lies behind the faces. From the United Park City Mine officials who first envisioned the resort, to the Mel Fletchers, Phil jones, Roger Harans, Woody Andersons, Loren Larsons, Craig Badamis...it is people who have made the Park City Ski Area work. Down to the lift operators, ticket sellers, ski instructors, snowmakers, marketing personnel-success is due all. It is a unique group. Forever searching face- shots, crisp mountain air and beautiful scenery, the people behind Park City seek perfection. Whether lifestyle, health or finding that perfect line through the trees, these are individuals who have chosen their town carefully. Over the past 25 years the ski area has brought more than economic growth. It has brought with it a wealth of things money can't buy friendships, health and fond memories. , There have been good seasons and marginal seasons. Some ideas have worked, others have failed. Basically, what keeps a dream going is perseverance. From the very beginning, before a run was even cut, mining officials recognized potential. poten-tial. Park City had "unparalleled natural advantages," ad-vantages," and was considered "a bonanza for all." But natural attributes aside, it took more than great skiing to pull Park City up during those first rocky years. It took more than knee-deep powder to move forward after a season like 1976-77. It has and will always take more, and Park City and its people will always give. And for this, we celebrate. The first 25 years have come and gone in glory. Here's to the next 25...
