To earn a spot on the dean's list, Ingram, an English major, and Sodergren and Thaller, both elementary education majors, maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Davis receives nomination Park City High School senior Bart Davis, son of John and Leilani Davis, has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy by Congressman Howard Nielson. The only way a student can get into the academy at Annapolis, Maryland, is to receive a congressional nomination. If he is accepted to the academy, and he accepts, varsity athlete Davis will begin his work there in July. Athletic scholarships open The National Sports Foundation is offering a publication designed to inform students on the availability of athletic scholarships. According to the Foundation, over 100,000 scholarships are available, and many are going unused. The foundation also says students don't have to be state champions to qualify for many of the scholarships. To receive the foundation's publication on how to qualify for this money, send $12 to the foundation at P.O. Box 408, Matawan, N. J., 07747-0408. McComb transfers from U. Colin D. McComb, son of Nancy Garbett of Park City, is among 18 students who have transferred to Lake Forest College this spring. McComb transferred to the 1,081 student, four-year college in Illinois from the University of Utah. Summer hosts needed Local families are needed to host 210 French and 60 Spanish high school students and nine teacher-chaperones who will visit Idaho and Utah this summer sum-mer with Nacel Cultural Exchanges. Medical and liability insurance are provided, and the students bring their own spending money. The students will arrive July 8 and stay through August 4. Shaft gets thei r stereo At the Feb. 23 board of education meeting, the board voted to loan the Shaft, Park City's teen center, $1,300 for a new stereo. Should the Shaft close, the equipment is to go to the school district. This is the first request the Shaft has made of the school board. Most of the Shaft's expenses have been covered by the city, the Kaiser foundation, and local dona tors. Decathaletes get backing The board of education made good on an old promise to the academic decathalon team. The team is going to the national competition in San Antonio at the end of April, and they need $5,700 for the trip. The board had made a commitment to support the team in the event they made it as far as the nationals, and since the team's win at state, the board has kept the promise.
