DEPARTMENT OP PUBLIC WORKS: Ott Dameron, Director Direc-tor 10011 Published in the Orem-Geneva Times, April 29, May 6, and May 13, 1992 Steve Densley withdraws from congressional race Steve Densley announced April 22, 1992 that he is withdrawing from the Third District Dis-trict Congressional race. Densley cited the following reasons for his departure from the campaign. Local Republican donors have been hit hard for donations to the Presidential, Governor's and Senate races, leaving limited resources for the Congressional campaign. The last minute entry of another qualified Republican, Richard Harrington, will probably probab-ly lead to a hard primary race, which will be both costly and not in the best interests of the Republican Party. To continue to spend through September, and then try to beat a PAC-supported incumbent in a short two-month period, would be difficult at best. I cannot put my family's financial future in jeopardy for the sake of my own personal desire to serve the people of the Third Congressional District. Even though the Chamber of In this age of increasing crime, it is even more important to protect yourself your-self at home, on the street and in your car. The best way to do this is to be aware of your surroundings and environment envi-ronment at all times. Following are some tips to help you avoid vulnerable or dangerous situations. These and other useful suggestions can be found in one of the latest, free Shell Answer Books, the "Driver's Security Book." Before entering your car, check for people hiding in the back seat and floor. If you have a two-seater, push both seats forward every time you leave your car to make it easier to see if someone is hiding inside. If you are suspicious, walk to the nearest open store or well-lit area and call for help. Don't hinder yourself by carrying too many packages. In some situations, a few seconds can mean the difference between being attacked and escaping, so don't limit your ability to react quickly. If you are walking and believe someone is following you in a car, walk in the opposite direction that the car is driving. Walk quickly, or run if necessary, to the nearest police or fire station, open store or well-lit, populated popu-lated area and find help. Always lock your car doors, even when you are in the car, and place any valuables out of sight or in your trunk. Always carry spare change and a list of phone numbers for emergency services, such as 24-hour towing companies, com-panies, nearby hospitals and the membership mem-bership card of any automobile club you may belong to. You should also keep a list in your wallet of the names and phone numbers of family members, mem-bers, in the event you are unable to An Apple A Day Better Than Ever New research results indicate apples have 37 percent more fiber and 26 percent less calories than before. be-fore.
