Mrs. Gittins was Lucille Allen. formerly Mrs. Harold Butler of Salt Lake, spent last Wednesday here with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Abe Jensen. Delbert Petersen went to Grants-vi- ll last Thursday to attend the funeral services of a friend held there. The W and R Club met Thursday at the home of Mrs. Carl Nielsen. The afternoon was enjoyed by the nine ladies present and a dainty luncheon, carried out in Halloween colors waa served by Mrs. Nielsen. Mrs. Carlos Jensen will be the next hostess on Nov. 2. Literary meet 'ng will be held. At a Democratic Primary held in the City Haiflast Wednesday evening, the following candidates were nominated for election on Nov. 7. For Mayor, B. M. Thompson; 4 year councilman, LeRoy Smith; 2 year E. N. Larsen, Leo C. Nielsen and Grover E. Christensen; Recorder, Earl W- Allen; and Treasurer, Mrs. Ruby Jensen. CONFERENCE NOTICE Hyrum Stake Relief Society conference will be held Sunday, October 22 in the Hyrum 3rd ward chapel. The first meeting will be held from 9 to 10:30 a. in. for Bishops, stake officers and ward presidents. From 10:30 a. m. to 12 noon will be a meeting for all stake and ward officers. Luncheon will be served to all present. A meeting tor the general public will be held from 2 to 4 p- - m. Ui. - OFFICIALS PUN CROP SURPLUS RELIEF Surpluses of various farm products will be purchased through a special uni of the agricutural adjustment administration, and distributed to the families on various relief rolls, in cooperation with the federal emer-gene- y relief administration, according to information received by Director William Peterson of the Utah State Agricultural college extension service. Among the commodities mentioned for possible purchase are dairy products, poultry products, hogs, cotton, cattle, fruits and vegetables, and grains. Major Robert M. Littlejohn, one of the fiscal representatives of the war department general staff will head the new organization. Assisting him will be Chester C. Davis and Gen. William I. Westervelt, directors of production and of processing and marketing, respectively, of the adjustment administration. Major Littlejohn will be advised by Dr. L. H, Bean on economics and by representatives of the legal and financial divisions of the admipiatration. Possible sources.of funds for the purchase of commodities are, first, the proceeds of processing taxes levied under the agricultural adjustment act; second, funds appropriated by the federal emergency relief act of 1913; and third, loans from tha Reconstruction Finance corporation, under the emergency relief and construction act of 1932. Wednesday evening at the County Court House in Logan a meeting of the presidents of the Parent Teachers organization was held. Mis. Thos. P, Farr, president of the county council took charge. Supt. J. W. Kirkbride tolcj of the good work that has been done by the local organizations. Mr. Otto Mehr of the State Council was the principal speaker. His messr age was to encourage Parent Teachers organizations, local and county councils. and the necessity of a hookup with the State and National Congress of Parents and Teachers organizations; in order to receive instructions and literature to aid in planning programs and projects. He stated that the membership of the National organization was two million; also that Arizona had a membership of six thous and, and that Utahs should be increased. This organization is a wonderful thing and every parent should be in terested.
