Show - . 1 , - S TUKSE last days of July slip by l and wo turn the page of tho calendar cal-endar to August many things come to our winds that bring us to the realization realiza-tion that autumn is nearly here. Alien Al-ien dy the morni t.s and evenings have taken on that chill tang which makes a wrap mvofsary. and soon we will see the summer wanderers straggling back to town. They will come first from the mountains, lor after the first vfek in August tho evenings become almost too chilly for comfort able, camping. Many of the girls of the younger set ho are pi a-n n i r. g on going a w a v to school are now ;it the beaches of southern south-ern California, and will return soon to commence their preparations for the opening of school, N Society in general and school circles in particular will undoubtedly see a dull winter socially this year, for nearly every eligible man has already either departed for part? unknown or has enlisted en-listed or been drafted, and it will seem a strange tiling indeed for the women to be obliged to amuse themselves. However, How-ever, with the .brothers and sons gone to war. the womon will not have m.ich time kit if they pre willing to do their bit. The relief work that women of America, can do amcng the war sufferers suffer-ers is incalculable, and even now the 1 average woman is standing on her tiptoes tip-toes with eagerness to be of service. Fall styles, Hk everything else this year will be very conservative, and milady mi-lady 's wardrobe promises to be in colors of black and navy blue and of simple design. Elaborate entertaining will be taboo, so the intricacy of her habiliment habili-ment is greatly lessened thereby. The autumn months will undoubtedly see an unprecedented number of weddings which, of course, owing to the war, will be hurried, and simple. c?
