Twenty-eight relatives and friends attended and enjoyed the evening with panifs and a nicely arranged lunch. The bride was presented with a number of lovely gifts. The Gleaner girls of the Second ward of which Miss Starr was a member entertained at a kitchen shower at the home of Miss Harriet Har-riet Miner on Friday night. The meeting also featured the election of officers of the group for this season with Cleon Fox, president; Ina Miner, vice president: Eva Crandall, secretary; Wanda Stewart, Stew-art, reporter. The party was enjoyed en-joyed by the following class members mem-bers and guests, Marie Simkins, Virginia Simkins, Mina Crandall, Lois Hjtirth, Mary Boyer, Mary S. Boyer, Wanda Stewart, Eva Crandall, Cran-dall, Harriet Miner, Mary Miner, Cleon Fox, Ina Miner, Mrs. Mae Fletcher, Mrs. Vesta Boyer, Mrs. Hazel Harrison, Mrs. Floyd Miner, Mrs. Jennie Starr and Mrs. Norma Pe'uro. Mr. and Mrs. J. X. Gardner and son spent the past week end at their ranch near Cedar City. E. Lavell Ostler in company with 'his son Lavell Jr., and wile of Provo, has spent the past several days on a trip to Zion and Bryce canyons, Boulder dam and California. Cali-fornia. The younger Mr. Ostler who is a driver for a laundry in Provo won the trip, together with a cash award of $25 in a recent contest conducted by the laundry company. His trip included the use of a new automobile in addition addi-tion to all expenses being paid. His route covered Springville, Spanish Fork and Payson. Among the enjbyable parties of the past week was that of the Booster's club held Wednesday night at the home of Miss Pauline Paul-ine Clyde in the form of a slumber party. The girls first attended the show and returned to the Clyde home for lunch. A delicious breakfast was served the following follow-ing morning to the following new members: Loween Crandall, Fern Simkins, Al'tha Kay, Evelyn Peterson, Pet-erson, Edna Nielson, Catherine Mendenhall and the old members: Dr. and Mrs. Mack Dougall with M rs. Re a Straw, left recently re-cently on a trip to the northwest. Mrs. Sumsion, who is school nurse in this district, will remain at Seattle, Wash., to take a special course in healt h work. Others of the group will return home this week end. Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler ate expected home tomorrow from a business and pleasure trip in the east where Mr. Wheeler purchased purchas-ed a new ambulance for his business. spring". D. degree at Stanford university. Members of the Fidelity Bridge club entertained at a no-hostess party at Valley Tavern Friday evening. Miss Kondo Riding of this city, left Wednesday for Los Angeles, California, to spend a six weeks vacation with Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes. Members of the H. N. Anderson Ander-son complimentary to Mrs. Catherine Cath-erine Dougall Wills, who is visiting visit-ing here from Los Angeles, Calif. Luncheon was served early in the afternoon at Valley Tavern and the guests later assembled at the Anderson home where a musical, including selections by the honored honor-ed guest and others were especially especial-ly enjoyed. The enteVtaining rooms were beautifully decorated with roses as was also the table from which the luncheon was served. Guests at the entertainment in- Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Announcement of the marriage of Miss Minnie Henderson, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs; G. W. Henderson Hender-son of Provo, formerly of this city, and Harold Walton of Provo, Which took place in November, was made at a nicely arranged luncheon for a number of Spring-ville Spring-ville friends at the home of the bride's parents in Provo, Monday night. Mrs. Walton has just completed com-pleted her nurses training at the L. D. S. hospital graduating this Miss Hazel Anderson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George A. Anderson Ander-son who will leave during the week for Lake Sebago, New York university's summer recreational camp. Miss Anderson will take a special spe-cial course in physical education, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch and son David and daughter Gertrude Ann, left recently on a two weeks vacation in California. Mr. and Mrs. John Dougall have returned from St. Louis, Mo., where they attended the graduation gradu-ation exercises in which their son eluded Mrs. Catherine Wills, Mrs. Paul Packard, Mrs. A. O. In honor of a number of friends who are visiting here, Mrs. Emma Gardner entertained at a breakfast break-fast at her home Wednesday. Members of the Second ward Gleaner class enjoyed a party in Provo canyon on Tuesday evening, eve-ning, A hike to Bridal Veil falls and a picnic lunch were features of entertainment. In attendance were Mrs. Millie Anderson, Mrs. Mae Fletcher, Mrs. Vesta Boyer, Wanda Stewart. Sewing was the diversion of the evening enjoyed in connection with a dainty lunch. There were present Afton Bring-hurst, Bring-hurst, Mae Miller, Naomi Sumsion, Hortcnse Crandall, Marie Clegg, Naomi Harmer, Bernice Jensen, Helen Rowland, members and Evelyn Jordan and Ruth Lee as guests. Miss Vera Johnson has returned to her home in Preston, Ida., after several weeks visit with her sinter Mrs. Charles Porter and family in Springvillc. Mrs. Jennie Starr of this city announces the marriage of her daughter Edna, to Blaine F. Thorpe, son of Mrs. Etta Thorpe of this city, which took place Monday, June 7, in the Salt Lake 1 temple. Shortly after their marriage mar-riage the young couple left on a wedding trip to the Northwest. Upon their return they will make their home in Springville for the present. Dr. and Mrs. Dougall accompanied them on their return and will visit here with relatives before returning re-turning for Dr. Dougall to take his interne work in the east. Mrs. Doris Bird was hostess to members of the Busy Finger club last Thursday afternoon. A delightful de-lightful time was spent with social so-cial chat and sewing together with a dainty lunch served at small tables. In attendance were eight club members and four guests. Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoffman who will leave soon to make their home in Grand Junction, Colo., a number of friends entertained at a canyon party at Sulphur Springs, Saturday Satur-day nig'ht. Miss Erma Haymond and Miss Ruth Mendenhall spent the week end with relatives in Salt Lake dancing, music and dramatics under un-der Dr. Jay B. Nash. She is a "Y" graduate and has been instructor of physical education at the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove school during the past year. En route, she will stop in Denver, Den-ver, to visit the Misses Alice and Beth Todd, and she will spend some time in Chicago with her sister, Mrs. R. L. Althouse and family. I. A. convention in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Andrew Knudsen and Mrs. Miles E. Miller of Salt Lake City were also other guests. Dr. Vein O. Knudsen, dean of the school of W. C. L. A., has returned to his home after several days visit with his sister, Mrs. H. T. Reynolds and family in Springville. Mrs. Otto Hall of Maplcton announces an-nounces the engagement of "her daughter Mclba, to Jack E. Burton, Bur-ton, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burton of Provo, the marriage to take place June 26. Mr. and Mrs. William A. Pace of Spanish Fork canyon, announce the marriage of their daughter Audrey, to Mell Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R.
