Show permanent organization for propagating colorado C river project now ow being pro T aced del delegation degation from counties interact t ed cd Cori confers conifers fers with suite legi legislators gators president R D young of the sevier stake S al nielson of tile the mt pleasant hub club W V S abc mcclellan ot of the wayne count commercial club president A R anderson 0 of the south sanpete stake and president C E rowan ronan of the garfield stake were appointed to formulate plans tor for a permanent organization to propagate the colorado river project at the same time protecting the rights ot of the state of utah in the gigantic enterprise to work out the constitution and bylaws for tile the proposed organization and to act as the legislative committee of ta the ie new society the same comm attee augmented by president J E magleby Alag leby of the south sevier stake slake president moroni lazenby of the north sevier stake and members of commercial clubs all along the line of counties interested in ili the project went to salt lake city to confer tuesday with the state legislature as to the best means to get the ball a rolling and to urge state aid and an appropriation tor for the building of a new scenic highway to the colorado river by way of richfield fielda loa and fish springs and over the horse shoe including all the I 1 wonders ot of colorado and utah the proposed dam sites bryce canyon grand canyon the zion national park and other scenic spots along the route the richfield commercial club is represented in ili the delegation by guy lewis J H baker and 0 C thurber the delegates met with legislative and state officials in the hotel utah tuesday too late for an account of the meeting in ili this issue of the reaper and we will report the outcome in ili next weeks reaper the selection of the committee was the work of tile the temporary organization formed for this purpose a month ago with president young as temporary chairman and J E heppler as temporary secretary the temporary organization held a meeting saturday in the church offices chairman young presiding secretary heppler announced that his busi business lieas will take him to california calir 10 tor r several weeks so lie he wo would uld not be able to give proper attention to the affairs of the organization and recommended election of another temporary secretary to which position the meeting elected cashier guy E evans vans of the state bank of wayne wa mr air evans accompanied the delegation to salt lake city in his new official cap capacity acety the meeting was attended It tended by a very representative delegation of counties and cities which are interested in the great project among them besides those mentioned biank 0 jones of the north S san in rete stake S INT nielson and joseph acely belv of the hub club chas snow W S mcclellan robrt robert A taylor and d E L P of the wayne county C commercial club bishop ogden dr T R gledhill dr W Virgi B bean call and J W ross of richfield the project was explained to the meeting in ili an all exhaustive and clear iii manner anner along the lines repeatedly set forth in ili the reaper by president young and after a thorough airing of the points that are ot of interest to southern utah tile the committees and delegates selected as outlined above |
