Watklns Halboin, a pioneer of I Utah, died early yesterday morning at her residence, 253 East Seventh South street. She was 69 years of age. Mrs. Halboin was born in Swansea, Wales. When a girl she came to the United States, making her way by ox team across the plains to Utah, where she settled in 1860. , ,. After living some time in Salt Lake the family moved to Prove where she was married to John Watkins, who va later appointed bishop of Midway. Here they remained until his death In 1902, enduring en-during all the hardships of the early set-tlement. set-tlement. , i For manv vears Mrs. Halbom was president presi-dent of the Midway Relief society and performed valuable service in caring for the needs of the people who lived in the community. Mrs. Halbom is survived by her husband, hus-band, J. L. Halbom; a sister. Mrs. Henrietta Henri-etta Taylor of Provo, and the following children: Joseph Watkins and George Watkins of Midway, N. J. Watkins o;' Fmktler, Wyo. ; Mrs. Netta Barben. Mrs. Pchaer and Mrs. Margaret Probst uf'Oiclcn; Mrs. Ruby Spiers. Mrs. Lily - Sf-arle and racy S. Watkins of Salt V Lake. Funeral saifvices will be held in the Third ward dliapel tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Tlje body may be viewed at the residency (from 11 until 1 o'clock tomorrow. m |
