Show J. E. TAYLOR, a PIONEER OE STATE, DIES Resident for Half Centsry Called by Death at Early Hoar Today. Joseph E. Taylor, M years old, a pia iMt undertaker of (kit city ui prominent promi-nent member of tko Mormon church since kit arrival here in 1858, died at aa early kour this morning at hi. home, 147 Kant ririt South atrt, of eompll- eatloaa resulting primarily from old i gs- Joaepk E. Taylor waa the aon of Ueorge Edward Groro Taylor and Anna Wicks. Be waa born at Hersham, 8us-x. 8us-x. Kngland, December 11. 1830. For many year ha bad bow prominent promi-nent in the affairs of development of Salt Lake City. Me had always been among the foremost of tha leader of tke church, himself holding msny Important Im-portant offices For nearly thirty years of bis forty years in the undertaking business ke held the position aa city sexton. During kls work aa a funeral director he became known to practically every family In the state or Utah. Mr. Taylor served as an adviser In several different lines of business. He waa representative la the second state legislature, exhibiting sound judgment and wisdom as a lawmaker. Dp to tke time of bis death he waa a member of the board of trustees of the L. D. H. university. He had had five wives, who bore him twenty-three children, twenty-one of whom survive him. He leaves two sisters, living in Idaho. Following are some extracts from Mr. Taylor's directions regarding his funeral fu-neral and burial: "T desire that mv three eons Samuel Sam-uel M , Alma O. and Mahonri H. shall have exclusive charge of my body and W all of my funeral and burial arrange- ments from first to last. "I desire that but a short time shall elapse between my death and burial. ''Let my funeral be altogether without with-out ostentation and unnecessary ceremony. cere-mony. No black clothing, as emblems of mourning, is needed. "Let the funeral service be href; for if I hsve devoted without reserve every power of body and mind in our father s service, which I have endoav ored to do, such devotion is a very toor acknowledgment of the blessings I have, alrradv received through the gospel and the promises given to me In the holy covensnt. Therefore, T deserve no preiso nothing but recognition." Funeral arrangements are incomplete, incom-plete, pending advice from out of tnwo relatives. |
