Show I'TfMlVf Annual Testin Test Your Driving f.Q. Hospital Rolls Lower, Patients Return Home A continuing decline is being shown this year in the rolls of U. S. Mental hospitals, according to the National Association for Mental Health. The decrease which has been progressive since 1956 indicates a definite favorable trend in treatment of mental illness. Prior to 1956, mental hospital rolls had been increased steadily for 25 years. which admissions Hospital have been rising during the past three years have been by the even greater increases in hospital discharges, resulting in a net drop in hospital population. The sharp increase in discharge of mental patients has created a new and acute problem. Many of these recovered patients are returning to communities which are unprepared to receive them. There is still a great deal of unwarranted fear and hostility toward the returned patients even among neighbors and family members. Employers, while expressing sympathetic interest, still resist employing former patients. Facilifollow-uties for medical care are practically nonexistent. Many patients are unable to contend with these obstacles and break down and have to return to the hospital. Others are forced into an unsatisfactory adjustment and become a burden to themselves, their families and their communities. Education of the general public to the situation still seems to be the answer in solving this acute problem. out-patie- p Soldier Undergoes Infantry Training Voure driving down a highway at night The bright lights of the oncoming car blind you.
