This event will be held at the Pleasant Grove City Down-town Park at 200 South Main Street from 3 until 5 p.m. All the children in the com-munity are invited to participate in this free activity. Those busi-ness and others participating are welcome to distribute treats, samples, flyers, etc. and are en-couraged to dress in costumes. Businesses will be assigned a designated location to set up their tables andor booths in the park. Event organizers expect there to be between 2,000 and 2,500 children attending the event this year. The event is sponsored by the I.O.O.F. Oddfellows and Rebekahs in participation with the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce and Pleasant Grove City. Project Continues to Effect 500 East inAF According to the Utah Department of Transportation, (UDOT) closed on the nights of October 1 and 2 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for Beam Placement on the 500 East Bridge in American Fork. Crews were setting bridge girders (beams) on the south bridge of the new interchange. The 500 East bridge is one of 63 structures on CORE that will be new, rebuilt or modified on the 24-mi- le proj-ect. Lane restrictions both nights began at 10 p.m. leading to the full closure at 11 p.m. Freeway traffic was diverted at the on- - and off-ramp-s. For east and west access, motorists were asked to use 100 East or 300 West in American Fork or Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Crews will be placing beams on the 500 East Bridge on This week Southbound between 100 East in American Fork and 200 South in Lindon will be reduced to three lanes starting as soon as Saturday, October 9, and will continue for the next two weeks. This is only the second time the project has needed to restrict a lane during day-time hours on South-bound on- - and off-ram- at the 500 East interchange will be closed beginning as early as Sunday, October 10, for the next 20 days, the first daytime ramp closure on the project. East-we- st access on 500 East over will remain open. Crews will be perform-ing concrete paving opera-tions. Motorists are advised to use American Fork Main Street or Pleasant Grove Bou-levard interchanges as alter-nate routes in this area. A northbound single-lan- e re-striction and northbound ramp closures will occur in the fol-lowing weeks leading up to a full interchange closure at 500 East later this month. Choir Rehearsals to Begin For Handel's Messiah Choir rehearsals for the Messiah will begin on Sunday, October 17, at ! 7 p.m. in the choir room at Pleasant Grove High School. Performing Handel's I "Messiah" is a tradition for the Pleasant Grove Orchestra and Choir. Everyone, who. loves the Christmas season and also loves to sing, is in-vited to come join the choir. The choir is very pleased to have Jim Wil-coc- k conducting again this year. If you have been in his choirs in the past, you know how much fun it is, so don't miss out! The group is also looking for soloist. This year's performance will be held December 3 at the Pleasant Grove High auditorium and will usher in the Christ-mas season. The officer attempted to contact the complainant but was unable to make contact. However, the complainant called back and reported the stereo that was stolen was taken by some friends playing a joke on him and there was no burglary. This case was closed. On Saturday, Septem-ber 25, an individual re-ported a theft of a bike while it was parked at the Pleasant Grove Library. The GT BMX bike was val-ued at $100. hicle while it was parked curbside including a bro-ken wing mirror valued at $100. There is no suspect information at this time. This case will be active and was sent to detectives for follow-u- p investigation. On Tuesday, September 28, an officer responded to a report of an assault. The officer found this had already been reported on Sunday, September 26. Officers responded to a report of two windows that had been broken out of a front end loader owned by Wholesale Landscape Sup-ply while at a construction site. The window damage was estimated at $700. Police officers took a report of criminal mis-chief from Levan, Utah. On Thursday, Septem-ber 30, the police depart-ment received a report of a marijuana pipe that was found in the parking lot of a business on State Street. The owner of the pipe is unknown. The pipe was photographed and destroyed and no fur-ther information is avail-able. One adult male was arrested at Macey's Food and Drug for theft of No-dri- p Afrin valued at $7.49 as well as several active warrants. He was booked at the Utah County Jail. On Thursday, September 23, 2010, an officer was dis-patched to an assault between a boss and an employee. The of-ficer arrived on scene and met with both the victim and the suspect. After speaking with the victim, he stated that he did not want to press charges. The victim then left the scene and the suspect was warned. No further action was taken. A police officer stopped a vehicle for a non-movi- vio-lation. After further investiga tion, the driver of the vehicle was cited for the non-movi-violations and drug parapher-nalia and was released on scene. The passenger was arrested for intent to distribute prescrip-tion medication and drug para-phernalia. The passenger was booked into the Utah County Jail. An individual reported that some no name sunglasses val-ued at $1 were taken in a ve-hicle burglary. Officers were dis-patched to Macey's Food and Drug on a theft detail. The suspect was arrested and was transported to, the Pleasant Grove Police De-partment where he was later released on a citation. Damaged was a DVD rack valued at $200 and stolen DVD's valued at $138.72. An officer was dis-patched to a theft of a wal-let, valued at $2 from a purse of an employee lock-er at a local business. Also missing were a credit card and Utah drivers license. The officer found a theft had occurred. There was limited suspect information at the time. Police officers were dispatched on a driver of a vehicle who had passed out on the roadway. This ap-peared to be caused from a medical condition. The driver was arrested for pos-session of drug parapherna-lia and no further actions were taken. On Sunday, September 26, 2010, an officer re-sponded on a report of an assault. The officer found that the reporting person had gone to pick up a fe-male to take outside as part of her work requirements. The fem then assaulted " the rs , 'son. V On Monday, Sttem-be- r 27, an officer was dis-patched to 700 and North in Pleasant Grove regard-ing damage done to a ve- - On Thursday, September 23, 2010, a Lindon City police officer responded to Lindon El-ementary for a report of a stu-dent who had assaulted a teach-er. An officer stopped a ve-hicle for Failure to Dim and Speeding. The officer found the driver was DUI, alcohol re-stricted, had an open container, no drivers license, three active warrants and two prior convic-tions for DUI. One female was transported and booked into the Utah County Jail for DUI, Open Container, Speeding, and Alco-hol Restricted. On Monday, September 27, 2010, a police officer made contact with a reporting person concerning the theft of flowers from her back yard. There is no suspect information at this time. On Wednesday, Septem-ber 29, an initial contact of-ficer responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The officer stopped the sus-pect vehicle after observing a traffic violation. The driver showed divided attention im-pairment and smelled strongly of alcohol. The driver submit-ted to a field sobriety test which showed impairment. The driv-er was arrested for DUI and transported to the Lindon City Police Department. The driv-er submitted to an intoxilyzer breath test producing a result of0.139BrAC. The driver was released on citation. Police responded to two separate reports of theft. One occurring on September 24 and a separate incident on Septem-ber 27. |
