Show j SOCIETY' Outstanding among the soouils of the week was the meeting of the Daughters of the Pioneers Camp No. 2 held at the home of Mrs. Julia Packard, with Mrs. Mary L. Finley, Mis. Eliza Thorn, Mrs. Ellen Wheeler and Mrs. Elsie Condie , as assisting hostesses. The entertain- ing rooms were beautifully decorated dec-orated with the Tranksgiving idea dominant. Large trays of friut added add-ed to the decorative scheme. During the afternoon a nice program was given with the following numbers rendered: Instrumental duets, R. B. Weight and Will Parry; vocal duets, Helen and Margaret Fox; reading, Mrs. Ella Reynolds; piano , solo, Miss Esther Maycock; reading, Mrs. Harriet Dougall; class history, Mrs. Mary L. Finley; remarks, Mrs. Grace L. Cheever of the county chapter. Officers for the coming year were also elected at this meet- Treaties" by Hugh Baxter a splendid splen-did program is scheduled. All those eligible to join are asked to attend. Prominent among the social happenings hap-penings of the past week was the chicken supper enjoyed by the "M" men of the Fourth ward M. I. A. at the home of Howard Zabriskie Wednesday evening . Following the supper a variety of games and radio music was featured. Those present included the following members: Eugene Palfreyman, Bert Brown, Virgil Ostler, Glenn Tipton, Reed Averett, Hardy Childs, Francis Bradley, Lorus Palfreyman, Hastings Hast-ings Smith, Ray Weight and the host Howard Zabriskie. Mrs. J. F. Wheeler was a guest Thursday afternoon at a Daughter of Pioneers meeting held at the home of her son Walter. Wheeler in Provo. The girls of the Fourth ward Beehive class enjoyed a pleasant social evening Thursday when they attended the show at Provo. Those included in the party were: Misses Leonore Condie, Melba Miller, Lucille Lu-cille Tavlor. Wheeler; par liamentarian, Mrs. Mary J. Finley. To conclude the meeting and social a delicious luncheon was served by the hostesses host-esses to thirty-eight members and guests present. In compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Rex Packard who were recently married a nicely arranged party was given by Miss Almina Mendenhall Menden-hall and Miss Maurine Whiting at the home of the latter Wednesday evening. Progressive "Cootie' furnished furn-ished pleasant amusement, four tables of the game being arranged. A delicious luncheon followed and was served to the following guests present: Misses Lucille Henrie, Madelyn Harrison, Amy Jones, Grace Lee, Eva Harmer, Ileen Harrison, Har-rison, and Lyman Metcalf, Mell Haymond, Jay Madison, Lewis Birdj "Specks" Spafford, Mark Jones, Leo Crandall, Howard Law, Arthur Hughes and the honor guests. A pleasant afternoon was spent Thursday by Daughters of the Pioneers Camp No. 1 when they were entertained at the home of Mrs. Joseph Wheeler. A fine program pro-gram was rendered with the following fol-lowing taking part: Mrs. Hannah Davis, history of Mrs. Mary B. Crandall, a handcart pioneer of this city; violin duet, Miss Ileen Harrison Harri-son and Miss Hazffl Anderson; vocal solo. Miss Helen -Fox, accompanied by Miss Margaret Fox at the violin; readings. Miss Mabel Wheeler. Dainty refreshments were served in the afternoon to about twenty members and guests. Assisting hostesses host-esses were: Mrs. Emily Crandall and Mrs. Harold Alleman. Members of the Service Star Legion will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday Nov. 21 at the home of Mrs. Hannah Davis. In addition to a talk on "Peace A nicely arranged birthday party was given Thursday when Mrs. Will Alleman entertained a number of young folks at their home in compliment com-pliment to her son Harry whose eighth birthday occurred that day. A variety of games were enjoyed followed by a delicious luncheon which was served by the hostess to twelve little guests present. Members of the N. I. P. club were delightfully entertained last Friday evening at the home of Mrs. George Straw with Miss Luell Straw as hostess. Social chat and sewing were outstanding features of the affair af-fair followed by a dainty tray luncheon which was served to the following guests and members: Mrs. Howard Jensen, Mrs. Floyd Harmer,, Harm-er,, Miss Merle Blackett, Miss Ethel Taylor, Miss Mabel Averett, Mrs. j Phil Stewart, Mrs. Max Packard, Mrs. Eldon Palfreyman. Members of the N. I. P. club will hold their next social evening at the home of Miss Mabel Averett, Saturday evening Nov. 23. All members mem-bers are invited to be present. Mrs. Arvil Bird and two children have returned to their home after a ten days' visit with relatives and friends in Ogden. Miss Inez Jessee was hostess at a delightful party at her home Monday evening, the occasion being be-ing in honor of her birthday anniversary. an-niversary. Music and games were the diversions of the evening. Johnson of Benjamin, Miss Doris Cunningham Cunning-ham of American Fork, Sherman Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Francis R. Goates of Lehi and Cornell Jessee of Springville.
