Show Funeral of Mrs Richard Smith Funeral services were held at the fourth ward meeting house over the remains of Mrs Jemima Elizabeth Smith on March 18th Bishop A J Hansen presided The choir was led by Hyrum Christensen with Miss Mary Larsen at the organ sang first Sis ter Thou Wast Mild and Lovely In vocation by councillor Wm Grotegut followed by the choir singing I Need Thee Every Hour Elder David Wil I liams was the first speaker he was a nutghbor 01 the ueceaseu and knew her well she had a noble spirit was kind to all she was a kind neighbor a generous gen-erous friend a faithful wife a loving mother and u true Latterday Saint At the close of Elder Williams speech Miss Cathrine Evans sang Face to face with Mary Larsen at the organ Councillor Albert Swenson was the i next speaker who said that hers was a model life and that she was always faithful in Gods cause The Nelson sisters sang Shall We Meet Beyond the River Bishop A J Hansen gave the closing speech making consoling remarks for the mourners and words of praise for the dead The choir sang Nearer Nearer My God To Thee Benedict ion by R W McKell The pulpit was beautifully decorated and the casket was wreathed in flowers woven into designs de-signs with the word Mother in the midst of the decorations Sister Smith was born in Spanish Fork August 21st 1805 and died March Kith 11110 She leaves a husband nine children five sisters three brothers and numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her loss The meeting house was filled to its utmost capacity and the cortege was one of the longest ever seen in this city |
