They plan to serve soft drinks and refreshments when the open house is held, which wont be for awhile yet, the manager commented. The Curreys are not strangers to Kanab. Although they came here from Las Vegas where they have lived for 12 years, Curreys wife, Sandi, is the daughter of Ernest G. Kirby. They have three boys, Robert, 18; Kyle, 16, and Kirby, 14. A red shale is being spread which will keep some scenic and rustic appearance to the facility, a tradition that the national franchise intends to keep in all units bearing its name. Currey feels that the increasing tourist flow through Kanab can help be kept in the area for as long as tourists want to stay by such new business additions as this. Since starting working on the ground, about three months ago, the builders and contractors have had tourists stop and want to stay overnight, and recently, with the area nearer completion, but not yet ready to open doors for business, the tourists stopping by have been very encouraging.'1 There is optimism that the new business will open more doors to Kanabs availability as a southern Utah tourist attraction. no is not a raise in taxation, but an attempt to equalize valuaions, throughotu the state, and even within the count., and explained hat safeguards areplaced on those who make the mill levy that is to hold the taxation within proper bounds. Local citizens were not appeased, however, with the outcome of the days events and have called a public meeting for Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Courthouse to organize and fight the lift in valuation. Following the unruly morning a schedule was set up for the and the following day that taxpayers could meet with the county commission (equalization board) and protest their valuation. During these individual meetings with the board the taxpayers valuation was discussed and when the board felt the valution was high, the taxpayer then was invited to discuss it with members of the Tax Commission and if were appointments necessary made to look over the property again and if valid (according to the Tax Commission) adjustments mde in the valuation. FOOD FOR THOUGHT Don't limit yourself to one or two salad greens: Try head lettuce, leaf lettuce, chicory, endive, watercress, parsley or romaine served separately or in combinations. When buying salad greens, be sure to buy fresh greens. As soon as you get home, wash carefully and put in humidrawer. When planning a tossed salad for dinner wash and prepare greens in the morning, put into a damp tea towel and return to refrigerator. When you are ready for them in the evening, toss on the dressing and your salad is fresh and crisp to put on the table. HERE ARE A FEW TRICKS IN SALAD MAKING: Tomatos should always be peeled before using put into boiling water and skin can be removed easily place carrot shavings into a bowl of ice and then curl never wash your wooden salad bowl wipe with paper towel that has been dampened, then cover bowl and put it away.
