Show AGED RESIDENT OF RICHFIELD IS DEAD RICHFIELD. Oct 17. Death : has Claimed the oldest citizen of Richfield, if not of Sevier county. At the age of 90 years and 6 months, Mrs. Ruth H. Hayward has passed away. She had been suite active and lively, for a woman o( her years, up to the last year, when age began to tell on her. She had been bedfast bed-fast for the past ten weeks. Mrs.- Hayward 'was a native of Knt England. There she was married to William Wil-liam Hayward, and they, embracing the Mormon faith, came to this country and State in 13. They had lived at Salt Lake, Ogden, Nephi. Moroni and Rlchneld. they being among the first party that settled wast Is now this city. ' They were forced to abandon this settlement In 1867 on account ac-count of the hostile attitude of the Indians, In-dians, but returned In 1872 and became prominent residents. Mr. Hayward died in lsaL But one child survives the aged lady, her daughter. Mrs. William G. Baker of this place. Bht leaves eleven grandchildren. grand-children. thlrty-el(?ht great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The deceased had been a very prominent worker in the Relief society and primary pri-mary association and was a constant attendant at-tendant upon the siok. |
