Bakhatl, engineer of Irrigation Irri-gation projects of Cairo, Egypt, who Is In this city as the expert representative of bis country looking over American methods of the great water systems with a view to the application of the valuable features In their own projected project-ed irrigation works, has taken a deep Interest in what be has seen while In this country. he principal investigations he has made bave been In Colorado and Utah. He says that he Is amazed at the magnitude mag-nitude of the undertakings and that he bas noted with great satisfaction that they are practicable. The Utah methods meth-ods bave pleased blm the most. He says that they are more substantially built and are apparently more satisfactory, satisfac-tory, v The great difference In American facilities fa-cilities and Egyptian is that here Is a greater source of 'water supply and one that is more dependable. There they have only the flood of the Kile to depend upon, while here we have the great mountains with their ialmost perpetual per-petual streams. With Utah and Bait Lake,- Mr. Bakhatl Bak-hatl is more than pleased. The officials have been more than attentive to him. he says, and he believes that they are competent in every way to do great things for the arid portion of the country coun-try if the people will accept their plans. Mr. Bakhatl will remain in Utah a few days longer and then will leave for California, where he will make further Investigations. |
