Show colorados colorado mining operations and metal production for 1926 shows up well and future most assuring the output of gold silver copper lead and zinc from colorado mines in 1926 in terms of recovered and estimated recoverable metal was in gold ounces of silver pounds of copper pounds of lead and pounds of zinc according to chas W henderson of the U S bureau of mines these figures are to be compared with in gold ounces of silver pounds of copper pounds of lead and pounds of zinc in 1925 and in gold ounces of silver pounds of copper 47 pounds of lead and pounds of zinc in 1924 compared with the 1925 figure gold shows a decrease of silver an increase of ounces copper an increase of pounds lead an increase of pounds and zinc an increase of pounds at estimated average prices for metals in 1926 the value of the output of these metals was silver copper lead and zinc these values added to that for 6 gold old gives a gross value of output for 1926 of as compared with in 1925 and with for 1924 operations at mines of cripple creek the cripple creek district in 1926 produced ingold in gold as compared with in 1925 the decrease of about can be credited to the idleness for two months ore and zinc carbonate ore from the companas comp anys mine at hanover new mexico and zinc carbonate from leadville this companas comp anys output of zinc concentrate and zinc oxide was approximately the same as in 1925 and had the mill been run entirely on current shipments from its mines or had stocks been replenished from the mine at the same rate as milling was done colorado mines in 1926 would have been credited with a 20 per cent increase in production figures for recoverable zinc received at smelters shelters sm elters from colorado sources do show an increases for 1926 of 20 per cent the river smelting smelling Sm elting refining companas Comp anys fuming and matting plant at florence was operated for ten months on complex ores and concentrates from leadville garfield bonanza ibex the western zinc oxide plant operated entirely on local low grade zinc carbonate ores was idle for three and one half months in the spring and early summer because of shortage of ore of this character this plant purchases zinc carbonate ore carrying as low as 14 per cent zinc most of the zinc carbonate ore came from carbonate and fryer hills the colorado zinc lead companas Comp anys ton selective flotation mill was ready for full capacity operation july 1926 and gave a market for zinc lead iron ores carrying in combined zinc and lead several points less than that demanded by the lead zinc oxide plants of the middle west and the east the arkansas valley lead bullion and lead copper matte smelter was operated continuously part of the year with four furnaces but with only two
