Show 1 FORJ IJfflJ1U18 RtJJS fs + OLJHERS as well as civilians have been close iy watching the j rising waters in k Red Butte canyon p r q J can-yon with apprehension I r v appre-hension for the I 7 1 vast few days r it is feared that I J the outlet in the large l reservoir I R k J res-ervoir will not be large 1 enough I 3u t to conduct the r = How of water that is pouring I into the pond The outlet I r0 already al-ready filled to the top and threatens I to run over I i does the water is likely to wash away the dirt at the ends of I the stone dam and let the whole contents I of the reservoir out at once If this happens the thousands of gallons I gal-lons of water will pour down in a flood into the city at Red But hollow and the estates of Le Grand Young and Gilmer I will be the first to suffer There would be I no dancer at all to the post as the bed of tho stream is some 15 or 2 feet below the whole of the surrounding country I The water would therefore follow this I channel which ends in Red Butte hollow A Noahs ark might come in handy incase in-case of an accident to the Red Butte dam i v < > I A new telephone system Is being put in at the post Heretofore there has only been four telephones in the post one in I the adjutants office one in the QuartErmasters QuartEr-masters office one in the officers club and one in the post exchange Now however nearly all the officers quarters in the post are to be connected by telephone tele-phone to the city 1 he central is to be in the adjutants office Here a fine switchboard switch-board is being put into petition to accommodate ac-commodate about SO instruments and will be connected with all the city lines and long distance points I Ever officer will have his own phone is his quarters so that he will be able I to reach any part of the city or neighboring neigh-boring towns without having to leave his house This will give better service and peoDle in the city will be able to call up I the officers without having to depend I upon the orderly at headquarters buildIng I build-Ing When the Sixteenth infantry was at the post Lieutenant Guyer placed several telephones tel-ephones in the officers quarters stables commissar and other buildings for the use of the post people This line wascon nected at the adjutants office as I central cen-tral but was merely a local affair and could not be connected with the city As long as Lieutenant Guyer was in the post tho system worked well hut when IIP left for Fort Leavennorth the lines got out of order and no one seemed to understand un-derstand I well enough to fix them so they became useless The new system hOe er will IK perfect in every detail and will be kept in order by the city company com-pany < s > < S > < J > = I is also rumored that electric lights are to be placed in all the houses and the street lamps will also be replaces by electricity elec-tricity At present the post is lighted by a number of oil lamps that throw a circle of light for not cver ten yards around their and a a consequence the post is not very brilliantly lighted at night I Is pres lined that all will be relighted at the prospects hut he younpei couples will be
