Show C S HELD MONDAY FOR W LOUIS well known justice of peace succumbs to long illness impressive funeral services were held in the monroe south ward chapel monday afternoon with bishop melbourne demill of the ward choir sang in the upper gardens mrs edna taking the solo part and sometime well understand other musical numbers were bury me near the old home by a quartet composed of thomas ransom lawrence and clifford jones and john B magleby with mrs bert swain at tho the piano A perfect day by mrs ora hunt accompanied by miss carol hunt a vocal solo 11 sing me ale to sleep by mrs vera vcra smith and a violin and piano selection by max larsen and carol hunt speakers were R T thurber an and d 0 R a boyhood friend from richfield frank K ler of salt lake and ferdinand erickson of monroe they spoke of mr bakers exemplary life his honesty of purpose in performing his duties as justice of the peace his devotion to his sons sona and daughter and his wife who passed away nineteen months ago mr erickson read resolutions of respect from the monroe city council the invocation was by C A winget the benediction by jos JOB A smith interment was in the monroe cemetery W 0 lundgreen dedicated the grave william louis baker 64 for many years justice of the peace at monroe died in a salt lake hospital august 30 following an illness dating back for several mont months lis he had gone to salt lake several days before with his son don dan thinking a change of climate would be of some benefit to his failing health but contracted pneumonia mr baker was born bom at nephi january 13 1870 a son of william george and Wilb Wilh elemia nielson baker most of his boyhood was spent in richfield the family having moved there with the early pioneers in 1890 he married laura J jones to them were born bom the following children who survive dan baker salt lake ernest baker ferron leonard baker and arthur baker monroe land and mrs louise pearce monroe there are also surviving six grandchildren two sisters mrs hazel denton of caliente nevada evad and mrs frank K salt lake one son arthur having employment in new mexico was unable to td be present for the services mr bakai engaged in farming and always e enjoyed as an engineer in different localities |
