Larry said he and the Utah State Department of Agriculture have applied for emergency exemption to allow use of Bayleton g on tree crops, particularly on apples. Similar applications have been submitted from Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Growers are urging congressmen to help get this emergency exemption approved as it is badly needed. Since Bayleton is registered for use on nonbearing fruit trees, Larry advises using it on young trees. He says it would help protect them against severe mildew Infections that reduce the tree growth. Also, it would guard against mildew infections that reduce the tree growth. Also, It would guard against mildew infection getting established in the canopy of the tree. The treatment would help the young trees gain good vigor to protect them from future infection. Follow the label, says farm 600-80- 0; age 12 and 13. Larry has safety tips for farmers and their fancies to them from keep becoming victims of accidental poisonings: Read and follow directions on all labels before you use a product. Always store products in their original containers until they are used up, then dispose of them. If you find an unmarked or unlabeled container, don't guess at the contents. Throw it away. Keep containers clean and dry so labels will be legible next time you use the product. Teach your family and hired workers to read and follow label directions when they apply pesticides and use chemical products. Discuss instructions with inexperienced workers who might not understand the printed word. Utah Power & Light Sets Construction Budget Utah Powers construction budget for 1982 is $6 million less than that of 1981, but nearly $4.5 million more will be spent on generation and transmission than was spent in the past year. During 1981, one new generating facility came on line, and nearly 400 miles of transmission line were added to UP&Ls system. On november 20, the companys first geothermal power generating unit went on line. The unit is located near Milford, Utah, at Roosevelt Hot Springs. Today, these attitudes and situations have almost completely changed. It is now recognized that many cancers can be cured if detected early, and treated promply and properly. Today, the cancer survival rate in the U.S. is above 35 percent. With present knowledge and treatments, it would be possible to save at least 50 percent of all patients as experience in leading cancer centers shows. This has revolutionized public and professional attitudes; today, in the U.S. people everywhere are Utah Powers average annual residential kilowatt-hour usage was up 2.3 percent over the previous year to a total of in 7.821 kilowatt-hour- s 1981, at an average cost 6.34 cents per kilowatt-hou- r. during the year, with most of the increase resulting from the purchase of CP Nationals southern Utah properties. Ernst von Feuchtersleben State Farm Mutual to pay dividend to Utah auto insurance policyholders State Farm Mutual auto insurance policyholders in Utah will receive a 4.3 percent dividend payment 15, April beginning thanks to mild weather conditions in 1981 which resulted in fewer claims than anticipated. The dividend payment, announced today by State Farm Regional Vice President Robert Biscoff, will be subtracted from policyholders first premium notice after April 15. For us, 1981 was a very unusual year in Utah, said Biscoff. "To begin with, there were no serious storm losses in the state. Coupled with that were the no snow winter of 1980-8increasing fuel costs and sensible driving which resulted in fewer claims. Because we have had unexpected gains, said Biscoff, we want to share them with our customers. According to Biscoff, State Farm Mutual has reduced its auto premium rates in Utah twice in recent years-- in 1980 and again in December 1981 when a new accident-fre- e discount was initiated (which reduced premium rates for about half of the 191,000 vehicles State Farm Mutual insures in the state). Nationwide, State Farm will return Mutual dividends totaling $50.6 million to customers in 19 states where underwriting profits contributed more than was needed to meet the companys total financial needs. The dividends will vary in amount from state to state depending on underwriting results in each area. State Farm Mutual Insurance Automobile Company is the largest automobile insurer in Utah, serving more than 19 percent of the vehicles in the state. The companys Mountain States regional office, which serves Utah, Wyoming and Colorado, is headat Greeley, quartered Colorado. cofeo&r The luff ta gourd hat a fiber network intide that The fort in fortnight it a maket an excellent scrub-racontraction of fourteen; the for the kitchen.
