Show IHIS Operetta Fnjoys Sesccesd "Shreds and Patches", Delta high school operetta, provided novel entertainment en-tertainment at performances in Delta and Hinckley on Thursday and Friday nights. The story, placed plac-ed in the 1890's, dealt with the difficulties dif-ficulties of an opera company in rehearsal, and the music, airs from various Gilbert and Sullivan light operas, . was expertly handled by the young singers. j In the principal roles were Lee Ray McAllister and Donna Sheriff, opera director and leading lady, Shirlene Steele and Neil Heyborne, soprano and tenor to be starred in the forthcoming production, Jeanneatte Overson and Kenneth Fullmer, in supporting roles, especially es-pecially Kenneth, as Goldentouch, the millionaire backer. Richard Moody, Leif Alldredge, involved in production troubles, also had their hands full with Eugene Holman, that fumbling stagehand. Joyce Terry and Carmen Rose, student directors, were also members of the cast, as Miss Muff and the bridesmaid. Amusement was derived from the orchestra, and their sorely tried conductor, Fred Adams, and also some fine accompaniments. Late for rehearsals, off key and playing from different pages, they still managed pleasing sound effects. Costumed for the gay 90's, like the cast, they gave a good performance perform-ance and ably supported the singers sing-ers and large chorus of 67 voices. In the orchestra were LeMar Twit-chell, Twit-chell, Leda Bigelow, Joe Bishop, Gill Hilton, Evelyn Knox, Viola Talbot, Zoe Porter, Beverly Fullmer, Full-mer, Iris Holman, and Laurel Anderson, And-erson, pianist. Mrs. Norma Hannifin accompanied them with the violin. The production staff included C. Evan Christensen, director; S. D. Anderson, staging: Ruth Hansen, make-up; Kathleen Ekstrom and Mary Lou Rawlinson, costume directors; dir-ectors; Beverly Fullmer, Zoe Porter, program directors. |
