Show ., • MIDVALE BASEBAll MIDVALE BAND TEAM WINS ONE GIVE BENEFIT AMERICAN YOUTH CANDIDATE AND lOSES ONE MIDVALE CITY TAXES LOWER THIS YEAR. • IJORDAN At a meeting of the council held J ,August ~4, the ta..x levy, subject to the approval of the state board of equalization and assessments , was fixed at 9 mills on the dollar. To be distributed as follo-ws: contingent expenses 3% mills, water works 3 mills, street and sidewalk improvemen t, 2 mills, construction of electric light and telephone lines, etc. % mill. This is a reduction of 1 mill compared to the levy of last year. The assessed valuation of Midvale • City has increased to the extent that even with the 1 mill reduction the revenue from city taxes remains practically a sit was last year. The gen• eral move in all taxing bodies seems - to be in the way of reducing the tax burden of property owners and the council should be justly commended in this action. STAKE CONFEREN·c E AUGUST 7AND 8 WILL DANCE A committee from the Midvale band, consisting of Chas. Hood, chairman, Clare Griffiths and Donald Mills are arranging a monster benefit dance at the Rendezvous dance hall on Smelter street, in honor of Wm. l\:L Cox, their bandmaster, who was injured in American Fork July 24. Tickets are out for the dance, admission being 50c, but anyone may purchase as many tickets as they desire. The band feels htat they should do something for Mr. Cox and they will stand all expense connected with this dance, turning over the gross proceeds to defray doctor bills and expense incurred by !Bandmaste r Cox incident to the injury. Let's fill the Rendezvous to overflowing in appreciation of the unstinted service of Bandmaster Cox to this community, and his patience in tutoring the Midvale band boys into the reputable organization they are today.
