Show FOR THE POPE. Arctbishop Corigan Will Present aa Album to the Holy Father. A number of priests, accompanied by photographers, are engaged in making pictures of new churches and buildings build-ings used for religious purposes in tha archdiocese of New York. When the views are completed they are to be sent to Archbishop Corrigan, who intends in-tends to place' them in an album and ! present them to the Pope aw one of the compliments of the Holy Year. Only views of edifices erected under the administration ad-ministration of the present Archbishop are being secured. One of the most notable groups for the Pope's album comes from New Rothelle. which was I founded 2H0 years ago by Huguenot J refugees from Rochelle ini France. It consists of pictures! of St. Gabriel's Church and Rectory, a large gymnasium, gymna-sium, now devoted to parochial schools, a home for the nuns and the old Le-land Le-land castle, now used for a seminary j by the Ursuline Sisters. These buildings, build-ings, which are valued at about $700,000, have been given to the church in- recent yeard by tho Iselin family. |
