Show : I I Mother Superior Dead. j Mother Cecilia, the provincial superior of the j Sisters of St. Francis in the United States, died i. i at the Sacred Heart Convent, the mother house. Buffalo, on Sunday night. 2lt inst., after a long j illness. Mother Ocili;i was provincial of the order for i nearly forty years. She was one of the victims of j the Kultnrkanipt arid was expelled from Germany at that, time, coming to America to the only boue of the order then established in this country. Sb-witnessed Sb-witnessed and was n strong factor in the wonderful wonder-ful strides which the order has since made, the sisters now conducting establishments in the dioceses dio-ceses of Buffalo, Columbus, Omaha, Sacramento, Sioiix Falls and Wheeling, besides the Indian schools, in South Dakota. The work has also been extended to South America1, India and Java, while schools are at. present being established in Africa. This is a wonderful record for one woman. Mother Cecilia, lived long enough to see the repealing re-pealing of the law which drove her from her home in Rhenish Prnssia. |
