The irony is that few of Nancies neighbors know of the office--an- d even fewer are aware of Nancies national reach. Nalder Enterprises is a low-ke- y company with a high-ke- y (and hopefully on key) product. He has been a professional educator for 33 years. Mr. Rhine graduated from USU and taught school in California for 15 years. He took graduate work at Pepperdine, USLA and Chapman College in Orange County, Calif. Eighteen years ago, Mr. Rhine assumed the counselor position at Central Davis. Because he has worked much of this time with the ninth grade class, he has had the opportunity to give advice to students who are preparing for high school. Mr. Rhine notes that this has been both rewarding and chal-- lenging. Mr. Rhine is married. His wife, Shirley, is a counselor at Layton High School. The couple has three children, Scott, a hospital administrator in San Diego, Calif.; Debra Garton, a homemaker who lives in Layton and Melinda Parry, a school teacher who lives in Provo. He has six grandchildren. Mr. Rhines future plans include catching up on all the things he hasn't done in the past 33 years. He says he may eventually move to California and warmer winter a pervises rapidly-growin- g prog- ram than enlists some 8,000 children throughout the United States. It was 1979 when Nancie, a musical activity buff who had taught private dance and piano lessons, noted a lack of programs for her own children. So she formed a neighborhood performing group--an- d within one week she had enrolled 80 Davis County children. The children, clad in bright orange and sunny yellow uniforms, began performing at shopping malls, parades and civic functions--an- d when enrollment blossomed to over 200, she began receiving telephone calls from others interested in using her program. Sensing the interest, she confided with her husband (Norris Nalder, a local funeral director) and took out a second mortgage on their home to build a larger studio. Then, with the help of an accountant and an attorney, she drafted an agreement to expand the Sunshine Generation concept to other Utah communities. It soon wrestled out of the Utah boundaries and into neighboring states, and today Nancie receives more than 200 inquiries each year He will report his mission Sunday, June 15 at 9a.m. at the Layton 16th Ward Sacrament meeting, 125 Church Street, Layton. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Like the precise performance of the children, Nalder Enterprises also holds precise control over the musical selections and costuming so that a West Virginia youngster moving to Louisiana can join another Sunshine Generation class without missing a beat. The standardization also is important to Nancies goal of wholesome entertainment. Some of todays music contains a lot of trash, she says. One of our current songs, the Power of Love, contains one unsuitable verse. We edited out that part. Musical selections and the musical direction of the companys e only other employee, Derrilee Webb of Orem are also carefully chosen around the age group of the children. Younger children may perform On the because weve planned. It makes me sick that were doing it without you. Well succeed but well have to struggle, Mr. Young stated. Layton along with Clearfield and Bountiful have not joined the Davis County Solid Waste Management and Energy Recovery Special Service District that was formed to build and manage a mass burn plant for the county. Layton and Clearfields decision creates problems for the Special Service District because it means there is a over ownership of the NARD landfill. Mr. Young indicated the Special Service District was ready to give allow up use of the land fill and to and Clearfield operate it.
