THE PROGRAM is set up to e assist families that have small children. Last year the program helped over 1396 individuals have a nicer Christmas, 738 of whom were children. Christmas gifts may seem beyond reach. Many of these people hesitate to ask for help but are encouraged by friends or relatives to apply. In some cases, friends may wish to apply for the needy family if they know the need is genuine but the family would be embarrassed to ask for aid themselves. However, this friend will be asked to secure approval from the needy family, explained Ms. Haygood. WHILE SPONSORS for Santa is the official Christmas assistance program for needy people in Davis County, some residents may wish to help families they are already aware of.
