Each Job Corps center teacher both basic general education leading to a high school equivalent diploma and vocational training. Vocational tra ning is provided in many different fields from computers to heavy construction. Interaction with the larger community outside the center is an important part of the education of the students. Their ultimate integration into the job market depends in part on being able to function outside the structured residential setting of the Corps Center. A FEW youth who enter the program lack the necessary motivation to succeed in the program. They either voluntarily drop out of the program or are dropped involuntarily as a result of discipline problems or other infractions of the Job Corps rules. The Clearfield Job Corps center is one of the largest in the country with 1500 students. Its general education program is a part of the Davis County School system. Part of each day they attend classes at Davis High School. THE JOB Corps centers provide individual counseling to assist the students in dealing with their personal problems and to instill motivation necessary to career and social success in the larger commun arrangement.
